chicken gizzard jerky I had bought some chicken gizzards for the dogs as they are cheap and you get alot. So I looked up on how to make jerky in the oven. I made chicken gizzard jerky it was a big hit with the dogs, even my mom's shih tzu from now on ill make their jerky instead of buying its cheaper. |
Excellent!!! It is cheaper and you know what is in your treats!! I have done gizzards, hearts, and livers...they LOVE 'em! |
So true and it was my first time making jerky also lol. I do plan on making liver and other meats as well. |
What's the best way to cook livers in the oven to keep them from being a crumbly mess? I have boiled them and cut them into chunks, but have never tried the oven. Would it also work in a convection toaster oven? And where the heck do you buy hearts? We don't have butcher shops around us. Can you ask for them at the meat counter in a regular grocery like Publix? |
the way I did the chicken gizzards I turned the oven on lowest it will go 170 and I boiled the gizzards for a few mins, put them in the oven it took about 6 hrs or so.. I haven't tried the liver yet, so im thinking since livers aren't tough cut them in small pieces not to small they will prolly shrink up some and before you put them in the oven might want to dry them off with a paper towel, let them cook at 170 and i just used a cookie pan. I was wondering about the hearts also |
