Microfiber towel for yorkies? When you bathe your Yorkie what kind of towel do you use? I got a set of two towels for dogs (it was marketed for dogs though i guess anyone could use them lol) and they are microfiber towels. I wanted to know if those are good for Yorkies or if any towel will do? I know microfiber towels cause less frizz in human hair (especially naturally curly hair like mine) but I was wondering if it has the same benefits for Yorkies or if I'm better off buying regular human towels. |
I don't know about the microfiber towels sorry! I just use regular people towels. |
I prefer a really good cotton towel. Since Yorkies have silky hair, it's best not to rub with the towel. I wrap my boys in one and hold them for a couple of minutes and change towels. |
I also use terry bath towel. :) |
I use baby towels. |

I use the towels from the master bath at my last house, as I don't have those colors in my current home...so ZoE got them. I get the concept of microfiber towels, but, personally, I can't stand the feel of them. |
I used regular cotton towels preferably a fluffy one Hazel seem more snug in a fluffy one. |
I just use regular bath towels, then blow dry |
I have microfiber towels and love them. |
1 Attachment(s) Well I use both a cotton towel when I first get Chloe out of the water and then a put the furminater fur dry on Chloe. It's made of microfiber and wraps on and around her from her head to her tail. She gets to run all around the house not getting anything wet. LOL didn't think it was going to work but it does like a charm! By the time I set up Chloe's little grooming table and get the hairdryer out she's a little damp and ready to groom. To me it really cut drying time in half. |

I dont know of an benefit in using them for your Yorkies. My sister uses them for her grooming business, but she also uses reg ol bath towels too. I cant stand the feel of them either, they just give me the willies when my dry skin gets caught on them. I just use reg. 100% bath towels. |
i use the microfiber towels too. I don't like the feel of them, but they act like a wick for moisture. Cuts dry time way down. |
Thanks everyone. I agree I hate the feel of them but at least for my hair I see benefits. I'll stick with them since I already bought them but if they don't work out I'll just get a regular towel. |
I know I posted that I can't stand the way microfiber towels feel... But today, while waiting to get my leaky tire fixed, I was shopping at an auto store as I was wanting to buy a chamois to completely dry my car (& not leave any water spots) after going through the car wash. Well, I saw a microfiber car drying towel next to the chamois. I reached out to feel it, knowing exactly how it would feel...and I was sooo surprised. It was really soft, not the kind that gets caught on any dry spot on your hand and feels weird, so I bought it along with the chamois! ZoE & I went to go wash my car after leaving the tire store. I used the chamois to take off the big water, and then finished up with the microfiber towel. It worked great! I'm seriously thinking about going back tomorrow & buying another car drying towel to use on ZoE after baths. |
I love the idea of the furminator. I think I would want it in bamboo, though...not microfiber. I use regular, large, soft bath towels for Brody and Mia...but my first choice would probably be bamboo. I have bamboo kitchen towels and they are absolutely super and stay soooo soft, and do not feel like microfiber at all. The only downside is that they are so absorbent, they take twice the drying time of terry towels but don't leave lint. They dry your hands in seconds, though. We have bathrobes in bamboo, too. I use microfiber to clean my motorcycle windscreen and the 'tupperware' body panels...it's a 'sport touring bike' so covered in lots of plastic...but only when all that Lexan and plastic are dry. I use the microfiber to clean the road oils and dirt off, but if I use it on the windscreen or mirrors when they are wet from fog, rain, or condensation, it is smear city so I never even thought about microfiber for my Yorkies. Glad to hear it works...ya never know. :D |
