I feel the same way about my little man.. when people talk about their children I talk about romeo the same way. I think it has to do with the fact that they love you so unconditionally...and unlike people, they don't see your flaws. It's a different kind of love, but it sure is a good one. |
1 Attachment(s) You are not alone. We have a few dogs and I stay awake nights thinking about how much I love them and how sick I would feel if anything happened to them. Anybody who loves animals feels this way. |
You would have to love yorkies to understand, but all of us that do know what you are talking about. I lost my Roxie back in January when she ate a sago palm seed and died from sago palm poisoning. I cannot describe to anyone, except another yorkie person, the pain I have felt since. She was only three years old and things were not supposed to happen the way they did. I am so grateful for the time I had with her. Sometimes it's like she is so close by, even now. That may sound strange, but it feels like she is closer some days than others. Just my heart playing tricks on my mind, I guess. I now have my little Maxie, who is such a sweet girl. She reminds me of Roxie in many ways, but each one is still different. One of them will never take the place of the other, I love each one for their different little self! |
to the OP your not stupid stupid are my sisters who made me go thru every animal we had to let go cause they couldnt be in the room. i guess being the guy is rough. it is very hard to lose a pet |
The best testament we have about Yorkie love, is how they teach us to love back. I have only been without a Yorkie for a few short days in my adult life. We can worry about losing them, it is better if we can be thankful for every day we have them. I know Patches and Willbe taught all about Yorkies and convinced me life is not complete with out them. Willbe was a strange Yorkie he brought me a baby sugar glider(Kind of a small squirrel, chip monk type creature) that got blown out of its nest. during a storm. That was amazing for a rat catcher to do ! Willbe knew Mama would be sad if he hurt the little critter. In that moment, a 4 month puppy made me a Yorkie lover for ever. |
It so nice to see how much we love our babies.. I also have 2 Chihuahuas' and I love them and have always treated them the same.. BUT I do think its a yorkie thing.. Izzy responded completely different to the love we give her. I don't think she know she a dog... And talk about a smart breed..The Yorkshire terrier is one smartest dogs who doesn't realize how small they are... Lol.. I keep a picture of her right next to my children's school pictures at my desk. Patients even tell me " wow you must love her like one of your children" lol.. Yup I do!! |

After my last yorkie, Chelsea, passed I went 3 years without a yorkie because I just didn't think I could go through that kind of loss again. But then I got ZoE :) And I think I'm even more attached to her than I was Chelsea. When I had Chelsea, I was married & was raising kids. Now, I'm no longer married, my kids are both away at college, so it's just me & ZoE at home...and she's my world. |
I feel the same! Our Katie Scarlett is my world! |
Let me put it to this way ! If me and bella were hanging from a cliff......and my wife had to choose! I would be gone !!!!!!!!!!! Lol there is no other love like the love you have for yorkie !!!!!! |
I definitely feel the same way. I have 2 children ages 4 and 8. I adore them. This little dog has stolen all our hearts. I truly believe she was meant to be ours. I love her so completely. |
Not silly at all!!! There's been a dog in my home all my life...to me, it was just another chore...until my husband brought Tyson home. I have never in my life loved a dog like I do this one. He stays by my side constantly...if I get up so does he, even if I'm just going into the kitchen or bathroom. He is my favorite "person" in the world and I would be devastated to lose him. |

I agree.....couldn't have worded this better! Love my little girl! |

Hahaha!!! That's funny, my husband asked me the same question and I told him that Izzy was way lighter .. Lol..:p |
Does not sound stupid at all. I have 2 Chihuahuas and a Yorkie and they are my life. When I had only my oldest Chihuahua I was literally obsessed with her and now the love needs to be spread into 3 parts lol but they do become your entire life. The only time I have been away from them would be on vacation and every time I got back I literally sobbed lol Its like having kids. Your not alone!! Also having pets lowers anxieties, depression, and is good for our health. :) |
Not silly no no no!! I understand completely. My Troubbie and I have the same kind of relationship that you describe with you and Izzy. It's AMAZING!!! I know what you mean when you say that you fear when the time comes to say good-bye to her. That will be one of the hardest days of our lives, when we have to let our little loves slip away. But I think that really says something all on it's own: Our love for them, and theirs for us is so big, so precious that EVERY SECOND we get to spend with them was WORTH the feelings of overwhelming sadness and loss we will feel at the end. The impact they have on our lives, is priceless. |
I need help My yorkie is almost 5 months and her behavior is awful!!! She constantly barks, she poops or pees on my bed every time she gets on my bed, she chews on my clothes, I tell her no and give her a toy but nothing is working. HELP!! |

I wouldn't let her on the bed if she has not already gone potty where she is supposed to. There are several threads here on the biting issue. You may want to do a search for one or two. Taking them for walks also helps them to empty their bladders much more than just standing waiting for them to go. When they are moving it gets their body functions going so they usually relieve themselves several times before getting home. Smelling where other animals have gone also causes them to go more. |
No it doesnt sound silly at all. There is a part of your heart that can only belong to a furkid. When Bunkey passed away,I became ill,I couldnt move off of my couch. I have a fine husband,6 almost grown kids and 5 other dogs. But Bunkey was my heart,2yrs later I still miss him. YT and Mina are the result of my husband realizing that I was falling apart. He understands and respects my feeling for Mina. She sleeps in our bed,I sew for her,she has a carseat (that my DH makes sure is in whatever car we are traveling in),she has a stroller (that DH will beg to push). I left her last Thurs to go to the coast, there were people in the house at all time. She stopped eating Saturday night due to me gone and added family stress. I have told my DH that we will not be leaving Mina behind again. We own a 38ft trailer and if I cannt get there with that ,then I nor Mina need to go. So no your arent silly. You are inlove with a tiny, furry baby that holds a piece of your heart. |
