How to teach my Yorkie not to nibble... My Yorkie is 3 months old and he nibbles a lot! How can I teach him not to nibble! Thanks! |
Welcome to YT!! Does he nibble on you? He is most likely teething, do you have any chew toys for him? |
Potty train my Yorkie! My Yorkie is 3 moths old! He's really cute but he can't go outside because he has to take a vaccine. While he can't go outside, how can I teach him to poop and pee in a newspaper? |
He doesn't nibble me but he nibbles stuff in my house! I bought some toys but he likes to nibble newspapers and sofas! |

Well you need to make sure all the wire and electrical stuff is out of reach. You should run through your house and really puppy proof it. Just imagine he is a 2 year old human boy that will put anything in his mouth!! When you see him chewing on something he isn’t suppose to- tell him NO and give him something he can chew on. What kind of “chew toys” do you have? |
Some dogs will chew out of sheer boredom, some from anxiety. Based on his age, your poor baby is more than likely teething. You will have to teach him what is appropriate to chew, and what isn't. If you catch him nibbling at something he shouldn't, remove him from the area and give him something that is okay to teethe on. And praise him! Cold baby carrots are a good idea. It's a healthy snack, and the cold will feel good on his gums. Stay away from anything rawhide. Some people give their pups bully sticks instead. The main things are supervision, redirection, praise, and reward. He'll catch on quickly if you are attentive and consistent. If you can't supervise him closely, make sure that you have an area that you can confine him to that he can't be destructive or get hurt. An exercise pen is great for this, or a bathroom with a baby gate. These will also help with potty training him! |

Carrots are a great idea, however they can be a choking hazard. He may bite off a piece too big and try to swallow.. I will advise you if you give him carrots is to watch him closely. I have seen “teething” toys that you can buy for that reason, just like human baby teething toys. They actually look really similar. They have that substance in them where you can freeze them. Also they have “kongs” you can stick something yummy in the kong and freeze it, the puppy will chew on it to try to get the treat out! Thankfully you have lots of options on the “teething” phase! |
