Going to the AKC website and looking up conformation clubs or a Yorkshire Terrier breed club in your area is a good idea. They usually have a breeder referral person you can contact. There are breeder's classified ads on the AKC site but those have not been checked out for the most part so unless you know what you are looking at you may want to avoid that area.
Checking with a local vet can be really helpful if they know a bit about breeders and what they are producing. There are some back yard breeders that might produce some healthy pups but sometimes they don't look much like the Yorkie you may have your heart set on. I hope you can find someone you can trust that is not very far from you. |
