Going to New York Posted this thread on the traveling forum but didn't get much, thought maybe the general sight might offer more, if you can, please do, any of you who live in the New York area or travel there, sure would appreciate some info, anyway thanks and here's the post: We will be going to NYC, anybody who has a good idea of what to visit or a place NOT to go, please let me know, I have never been before and will have 3 days in the down town area. How are the peoples and shops etc. about little dogs? The flying does not bother me as Sprocket has done the plane ride thing before and it went quite well, at least as well as could be hoped for (he did better than me) and Sprocket recovers from the flight faster too. Oh, we are flying into JFK, can we take a taxi to mid town? I think the hotel is Broadway and 49th, is that far? Are hotels fussy about the little dogs, I know they say it's OK but really? I am quite excited so PLEASE, any ideas and thanks so much. Thank you!!!!! |
Nyc Yes, you could take a taxi and there are also buses. The first thing you need to get is a subway map and a map of the city. You should see the art museum, Broadway, Times Square, the site of the world trade towers, Fifth Avenue shopping (Tiffanys etc), Central Park, Union Square, the list goes on and on. Maybe you should buy a travel guide and decide what you want to see. I love NY! |
It sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun! I've never been to New York, but a lot of times larger cities are more dog friendly. I hope someone who lives there can give you some advice. |
I replied to your other thread and asked you a few questions, but it looks like you have not been back to it, I have a lot of experience in going to NY with Lola and know a lot of people with dogs that live there. From what I can tell after being on YT for over a year, not many members are from NYC. |
NY is very dog friendly! Now that the weather is warmer places will have outdoor eating and welcome people with pets. I used to bring max to manhattan a lot. Never walked him in midtown though, had to carry him. So many people for such a little pup. But there are so many places and activities to bring your dog to. The site Dog Friendly Vacations in New York, NY, US has a great list of fun things to do in NY with your dog and all pet friendly establishments :) Hope you have a great trip! NYC is a wonderful place :) |
