The Shaved Yorkie Hello Everyone I'm super new to this site & I'm a yorkies MOM!! My baby name is Louie aka mommies man!! I've had him since March 10th 2012...Heres my question he got matted really bad :( i shaved him down soooo low & all the black curly hair was gone !! His hair is growing back but I WANT/NEED to know if the black will come back:confused:??? HELP the default pic of him was when i first got him soon as i find out how to post more pics i will show you how he looks now. Thanks in advance |
If it was black at the roots when you shaved him, it may come black. If it was light at the roots, it will likely come back as that shade. Some yorkies stay black, but others lighten up as they go thru their puppy stages. CONGRATS on your new baby - Welcome to YT and would love to see some piccies. |
The info you have already received is what I've heard from others on YT! Welcome to YT and do please post picts when you can. We love to see everyone's puppies!! Are you combine your pup twice each day? That's the only way I've found to keep the mats at bay. I also don't comb dry fur. I wet it a little with a conditioning spray which also helps. If you're a new Yorkie Mom, they you're probably learning a ton of stuff right now. Be sure to check out the "Libraries" toward the top of the page. They are loaded with information from people who have probably already asked some of the questions you may have! Again welcome, we're glad you joined us!! |
Yup, it will come back black or gray or silver - depends on if it was starting to change yet. I just looked at your pics and what a cutie patootie, mommie's man is! :D Welcome to YT! |
Our little guys coats are SO beautiful, but, I'd rather see them comfortable and healthy, than what satisfaction seeing/touching that "silk". Right now, my guys coats are long. But that's because it has been rather cool, and I wanted them to have that protection through the winter. It's SO hot down here, and I take my guys out for a speedy trip along the Bayou each day (sometimes more than once a day). Cockelburrs abound, they jump in the Bayou, play and tumble with each other (and me), and I would be up to my ears (theirs too) in Mats, IF I allowed their coats to become long. I keep my guys coats quite short through the summer months. Their personal comfort is very important to me, and them as well. I know, they've told me :D |
It depends if he was finished with puppy hair and it was shaved off then it could come back lighter. |
