Warmer weather = Flea treatment time, what to use?
 
Ok....I had it all planned out....bath for Lambeau today....1st ever flea treatment on Sunday using Sentry Pro Toy Breed Gentle formula flea treatment. Then I went on-line to check customer reviews...Good Gosh...is there ANY treatment out there that won't scare the bee-jeeus out of you to use?? He so loves being outside and we live in the country/woods so he has lots of 'roaming' area. I use an organic shampoo formulated by a local fella that contains essential oils as a 'natural' flea/tick repellant, really love the way he smells after his bath using this, but I know that won't be enough protection once nice weather is here. Hate to sound panicky but want my little guy to be protected and home to stay flea free. Help :confused:

unfortunately no...the topicals are toxic but necessary....i tried several natural versions myself and ended up with fleas. also frontline plus and advantix ii no longer work for me in my area so i have switched to revolution...which thus far knock on wood is working wonderfully with no adverse reactions from my kidz. wishing you luck in finding a topical.

Thanks for the quick reply...after spending most of the morning researching this, that's kinda what I gathered. I guess I will go forward as planned and be on guard for reactions to the spot treatment. Might even give my vet a call to see what she recommends.

We seem to have more of a tick problem here and the only thing I have found that works for us is Advantix.

Everything quit working for me also.

I use comfortis for fleas and it works really well, so far without any problems.

Now for the ticks.....it doesn't help at all. I live in the woods and the ticks are really bad right now. :)

We were using trifxeus (sp) for our bigger dogs but it was so hard to get them to take it, also it dosent protect from ticks( I live in the country and my sheltie loves to roam my yard leash free). We switched to advantix for all of the dogs for fleas and ticks and it works amazing :) not to mention its waaaay cheaper lol
