mrsfjl | 03-29-2013 07:40 AM | My baby was so sick! We moved into a new apartment on March 11. We moved from my son's house where Simba had a Rottweiler and boxer cousins. Right after we moved Simba stopped eating, even treats he loves. His extreme loss of weight (4.1 lbs)and excessive water consumption and urination sent me to the vet with him. She did a urinalysis and blood work. She came back into room and said he was a very sick little boy. All of a sudden he is a diabetic and she also diagnosed Cushing's Disease and his liver enzymes were sky high. Sunday she called me that he was very out of breath with little activity, very weak and she was not too optimistic with what the outcome would be. On Monday she called and asked me to ok a chest x-ray. Of course money, at this critical time is not the issue to me. The chest x-ray showed no fluid on lungs but a very enlarged heart. She told me at this point he is in very critical condition and is suffering. After many, many tears, my husband and I went to the vet on Tues., March 26th, my birthday, with the idea of spending a few hours loving and holding Simba and saying good bye to our very dear, loving Simba. When we arrived we were shown to a care room. When the vet came in she had a smile and I thought to myself she knows why I'm here, what's with the smile? She proceeded to explain that when she got in early that morning, Simba had no trouble breathing and the IV's had kicked in, his energy level was back and his diabetes is in control with insulin. She said that she felt he would thrive at home with our love and care. I do have to now give him the insulin injections twice a day and limit his food and treats. We brought him home on my birthday and his is doing well. He is happy to be home. First thing he did was climb up his staircase to our bed to make him self comfortable. G-d answered my prayers and with his love and guidance we will be able to love and keep Simba for more years to come. |
