14yr old yorky - peeing EVERYWHERE! my darling little girl is 14 yrs old - She is on vetmedin and frusemide and now pees dozens of times a day and during the night on the kitchen and lounge floor. Right in front of you - even immediately after she has been in the garden and had a pee there. She drinks a lot of water and I am afraid to limit this as the meds she is on make her thirsty. I have tried doggie diapers but she can ditch the diaper in seconds and toddles off to perform another pee. Any advice? |
Sounds as if she could have a URI or stone or something. I would vet her - she could be irritated and really in pain. Likely needs meds for this. |

Yes, with her age, this is definitely sounding like a medical issue. Please take her to a vet. Praying for your girl! Welcome to the forum - hope you stick around so we can get to know you :) |
I would probably try to train her to a pee pee pad indoors. Maybe if you set up an area where she can go quickly inside, she would go there instead of other places. She obviously has to go really bad due to medicines or medical issues. My boy goes outside, but I've often thought when he gets old (he's 9 now) that I might set up an inside potty for his convenience if he couldn't hold it as long or make it to outdoors to go. That's one of the bonuses of having a small dog. |
Furosemide is a diuretic so it will make her pee! She might have a UTI as well. I would speak to her vet. Good luck and keep us posted. |
Since she is on meds for cardiac issues, probably CHF, then I would think it may be from the medications. I would call the vet who is treating her and let him/her know what is going on and ask if perhaps she needs to be seen. As for controlling it, I really don't know what to advise you if she takes her panties off. You might want to limit her to rooms where it is easier to clean up. |

I had a senior foster with CHF she was on the same meds. We put the diaper on (We used washable doggie panties) then a baby onsie with a hole cut for her tail. she could not get the diaper off. I just changed her often and she was fine. You can also pin the diaper to a T-shirt. I did this for my beloved 19 year old Noah at the end. (RIP Noah) Hope this helps. Hugs. |

The medicine is making her body let off more fluid than she normally would. The poor girl can't help it. If she can't use indoor pee pads then I would agree you should get her some doggy diapers. At her age she deserves some pampering. |
