Floppy Ears / To shave or not to shave that is the question? Floppy Ears / To shave or not to shave that is the question? Im looking for a new look for my girl Brandi. My 18 lb. Yorkie :D She's no dossel gal, shes rough and tough and not too girly. Im not sure what to do with her ears when I groom her. I like to keep her cut mid length since DD doesn't groom her as often as she should. But I never know what to do with her ears. I normally just give her ears straight cut across the botton. Any suggestion? Please include a photo of how you groom your Tea Pot pup!! :) |
1 Attachment(s) I personally like to shave Oscar's ears about 3/4 . I think he looks so cute....:D |
I say keep em unshaved. |
I had hoped to get more replys with photos.. Shave - 1 Unshaved - 1 Interesting: wel if I do shave them it will always grow back,. right ! |

Also thanks for the pics guys, that gives me an idea of what to expect if I do shave them. Plus your pups are all adorable !! :) |
Leave them unshaved I think the floppy ears make them look like a pup |
I would have posted a pic but I don't have a teapot or floppy ears. So, I just voted :D |
4 Attachment(s) I shave... Brody...both ways...then and now... |
What is her cut like now? Like... her whole body. |
She cut shorter on her back and legs and is mid length with about a 3-4 in skirt. Thanks for the photos ! I've cut her ears before and they always turned out horrible. Im seriously thinking about giving BOTH her and Quincy a puppy cut. But IM not sure what to do with her head and ears. SHes difficult to groom and Quincy is just getting too old to handle it. Plus Quincy has that little Porker thing going on. He may look freaky with a shorter hair cut cuz of his, well . . his Girth ! He may look just totally ridiculous. |
1 Attachment(s) Molli's ears don't stand up so I let the hair grow out and gave her pigtails- I think its super cute. I shave Chibi's ears and don't leave a whole lot of hair around them mostly because he's got a wavy coat. What ever you do I am sure it will look cute and if not it'll grow back right? ;) Here's a pic of them cheesin' for the camera |
Have they been shaved before? If so, do they stand when shaved? If not, don't bother shaving, she's cute just as she is. If they do stand then that would give her a different look. I don't know, what ever trips your trigger I guess! :) |

If that's the case I think letting the hair grown would be nice. Even if they get a puppy cut the ears will look nice. Are you trying to get the ears to stand? |
