My little Crazy Daisy... :aimeeyorkI am having a problem with my little miss fit. I would love some suggestions. Daisy Mae will be a year old the end of April. Her attitude is changing..she's a demon..lol! When she was a tiny thing she loved to be held and cuddled, now not so much. Lately she is letting my husband cuddle more and not me... does this mean she is bonding more with him? I am feeling a little left out, as we have a loder poodle who is definetly " his dog". I am wondering if this new attraction is because he has been disiplining her really hard lately? She runs to him if I call her to sit with me..what's going on here? I don't want her not to love him, I just want equal respect, and affection from her. Plus I think she see's me as the mama..I do all the grooming, I am more lienient in her obediance at times, could this be it? I was also thinking the terrible 2's are starting! |
I can't help but I'm in the same boat. Princess Sophie is doing the same thing and she's only 4 months old. LOL The DH has always ben the top dog in our house for all our pets and I want Sophie to be mine. I'll keep my eyes open to see what other responses you get as I want to know what to do too. Thanks so much for asking this question!! Maybe we will both end up happy!!!;) |
We will both have to see if some of the older members have suggestions. I like you want to have always been the outcast with our house pets. I'm the one they want when "Daddy" is not a available. LOL |
Yesterday Oakley was on the sofa with my husband while I was folding clothes. He started barking as he wanted to get down and then he started growling at my husband. Oakley wants and has to be at my feet at all times, lol. When I get home from work in the evening, he's sitting there barking at me before I even put my purse, etc. up. He expects me to pick him up the minute I walk in the house and of course, I love it, lol. |
we are what i refer to as the chopped liver brigade!!! |

I think there are a lot of us that go through the feeling of being left out when it comes to female yorkies and out DHs. I have heard that female yorkies tend to bond closer with men and males with women. Our Sophie spends all day with me so when my husband comes home in the evening she's all over him. I think we even out for her time and affections. If it lent more very slightly in one direction I would have to say she's daddy's girl. It can be the age as well. Yorkies can be very obstinate at that age :D. |

I know, they say females bond to the male in the house. In my house that is just totally opposite! I have/had 3 females and 1 male......the girls all have bonded and continue to bond with me and Max is a total "daddy"s boy"! I think it all depend on how much quality time you spend with them. I am home all day and they all run to greet my DH, but Max is the only one that sticks with him for the night! Give your little girl time....she might be going through a strong willed period and is testing you! Kind of like a teenager would.....!!!! |
I have some ideas. 1. Some dogs gravitate to the top person in the pack. Maybe that is DH ? 2. Some dogs see a persons desire for affection as annoying, demanding or as weakness. Puppies and weaker members of the pack solicit attention and affection. I have really seen this bonding turn around when a puppy has to work for approval, and attention. Dogs and people are different. Training is very bonding. Try stepping up your training, go for walks and teach some new tricks read this; NILIF - Nothing in Life is Free Program For Dogs hope this helps. |
My girl tends to favor her Daddy as well, and it's so cute to see. i do get a bit jealous. We both get kicked to the curb when the grandkids come over :p |
