Just a little worried Hi, Chip my little 6 month old pup, threw up twice today, now he is just laying. around , I gave him a table spoon of yogurt , then he eat some of his food. I just get a little worried. Should I try to get him to eat or drink anything, or just let him do what he wants, the food is all ways out for him. |
Sorry to hear about your baby. I would keep a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated or get low sugar. If he seems worse get him to an ER vet. I hope he feels better soon. |
Thanks for the quick reply, he seems to be doing ok, he is eating and drinking,I just hope he didn't eat anything that I didn't see LOL,I watch him like a hawk but I'm sure you know what I mean. They are so fast he can snatch and grab and he's gone. |

Vomiting in a small breed pup can get serious fast. You are right to be concerned. I just wanted to mention the fact that many people have had problems with many of the treats that are available at pet stores and department stores. Some people food can also wreak havoc with a small dog's digestive system. Just be careful what you let him eat. |

Carried Chip to vet this morning little guy has a bacterial infection, she gave him fluids and antibiotics. He seem to be a little better, just tired, he is sleeping now. Thanks for the help. |

Thanks everyone, three more nights of antibiotics and hopefully he will be well, he is so much better today, bacteria gastroenteritis is a hard sickness for a little one. |
Buster just recovered from a bout of Gastroenteritis himself. It took him almost two weeks to get back to his regular self. You know your in love when you start celebrating a firm poop! Buster and I hope Chip is feeling better soon. |

So glad you got him as he would have likely just gotten worse and worse, diarrhea started happening too, and extreme loss of fluid can take the life of a small dog quickly. They just don't have the reserves to handle dehydration and when their electrolytes get low, things get critical suddenly. It can sometimes stop the heart so getting him in and getting help in time probably saved his life. Hope he just keeps getting better and better. It's pretty tough on mommie, too, isn't it - having a sick little one? |
