Is Gizmo eating enough?? Hi all me again I have a feeling I will be asking you all a lot of questions. LOL this puppy thing is so new to me because mercy was almost 5 when we got her, and had some questions when I got her. Our new Baby Gizmo will be 16 weeks on monday he weighs 2.2#. He is eating spot's stew canned and is eating about 1 Tbsp 3 times a day, and maybe about 15-20 little kibbles of spots stew dry throughout the day. is this enough for him? Or am I feeding to much? Is this even what kind of food he should be eating at this time? any help would be greatly appriciated because I want the best for him. |
I'm not sure as it's been awhile since I had a puppy. It sounds like enough but maybe someone else can answer for you. |
Sounds like it is about what my Chewbacca ate when he was that age. It wasn't much that is for sure. |
I use only dry food. With each type of food is different. I am following the packaging on how much to feed him. Plus he is getting treats with training. |
Thank you for the help, I was trying to do just the dry that the breeder sent with (Diamond puppy & Bil jac) she feed it mixed,I think he was scared and wouldn't eat the whole day. so I gave him the Tbsp of spot's stew canned with just a little water and he ate. I was just concerned about him not eating and getting hyperglicemia (sp) so that why i did it,I hope that was not the wrong thing to do! |
Nothing is right or wrong...don't worry. I did the same thing with my puppy until he was about 24 weeks. I only fed wet twice a day and I mixed it with about 15 little pieces of dry food. And then left dry food out all day. But just remember nothing is right or wrong it is a matter of what works for you and your pup. :) |
I also give Wallee a couple of tablespoons of Blue Buffalo canned food at supper and he eats his kibble out of a treat ball the rest of the time. I was able to get him more interested in the dry this way however give him the canned still as I feed my cats canned food at this time as well. |
