There are people who have had success with grass potty patches, but they can be difficult to keep clean. One member had worms or something that started growing in it. |

I have one, Sophie Kate lays on it and takes naps and then wakes up and goes to her pee pad. She doesn't get it, thats okay as long as she hits the pad. |

I must be one of the few that use a Potty Patch and like it. I put a washable potty pad under the grass and change the pad daily. I have extra grass patches that I change out weekly and wash the old ones and put the clean ones out. Macy has never liked the disposable pads because her feet get wet she pees. With the grass, she doesn't track outside the pad. Since I have two dogs I put two patches together side by side and they seem to poo on one side and pee on the other side. I spray the grass with Simple Green and hose down with warm water and lay out in the sun to dry. Mine isn't called a Potty Patch, it's called a Pet Zoom. |

My Molly uses the Potty Patch with no problem. I also put pee pads under the grass to make cleaning easier. She refuses to go outside in the cold so this works for us. Not the most fun thing to clean but it's worth it I guess. |
I have one for Ruby as the breeder had her pretty much potty trained with it when I got her. I love love love it, especially with the snow etc. Rosie will not use it so I still take the girls outside but especially for days I can't run home at lunch time its great. The big pain is keeping it smell free. One site suggested using urine off on it as a cleaner. I haven't tried that yet. I will be trying the pee pad suggestion. I got it at drugstore.com for under $30 but not sure of the name! |
I tried the potty patch but Chibi thought it was a napping area and I didn't like how shallow the one I had was, if it were full of liquid I don't see how you could safely dispose of the liquid without spilling. I like potty pads better, I used to put them inside a cat litter box to keep from any spillage when he was a puppy. It didn't work for us but I guess maybe they work for some. |
Ruby If vinegar smell doesn't bother you you could try cleaning it with that. It's supposed to break down the protein that makes urine stink so bad. I use it on my laminate flooring when I change puppy pads and Yumi has peed on the edge, but actually managed to pee under the pad instead of on it. It seems to work fairly well for us, and the vinegar smell fades. Not sure if it would be enough on a potty patch, but it's certainly worth a try :) |
