All My dogs are rescue Marvin (not a yorkie) first 10 years ago Fizz (Yokie)(Rainbow Bridge), foundling, many weeks looking for an owner and many hours trying to save at vets office and still a terribly missed baby. Max (YorKie) about two years ago From local rescue group Titus (Yorkie) A year ago from same rescue group. I love them all and love rescues the best! |
Actually none of my Yorkies are rescue, but, I do monitor a private group " Become a Friend of BARC today " for any possible assistance they may need. I do have to be careful, My Adult Male isn't all that friendly toward the needy, or anyone else for that matter (beside me) |
Well some of you may know zooeys story, or not. But I rescued her from a puppy broker/puppy mill. Bought her, but didn't know where she came from at first. When I found out later, she was not healthy, broker wanted her back because I wouldn't pay her in full after finding out where she came from. Cancelled my check on her but gave her some cash and refused to return her to the broker. I reported her everywhere hoping to shut her down, but no luck. My baby just turned a year old. Health issues finally better, but now may have lp with back right leg:( I'm just greatful to have her and love her and praying for many years to spend with her! |
2 Attachment(s) We have a mixed story here. :) Piccolo came from a show breeder, Vivi, our Min Pin, is a flat out stray, so I guess that is a rescue? Attachment 383742 and Buster came from an animal shelter in Indiana and is a foster with Yorkie Haven Rescue. (I just put this pic up on FB last night and I think he looks so cute. :)) Attachment 383743 Gotta add that each story is so heartwarming and thanks to all of you, for all that you do, to help these little ones. |
3 Attachment(s) I have 2 adopted pups. Yoshi was my first Yorkie. Momo is a Yorkie/Maltese mix. They are both from mills in Indiana. I did not have the best experience with my rescue organization. They are now no longer in operation. However, I love my little babies more & more everyday. They have truly changed my life :heart to Here's Yoshi & Momo in their first puppy pics. The b&w was taken about a week ago. |
both of mine are rescues, JJ came to us from spca when he was 3, he is now 7yrs old and a cute teddy of a yorkie. and then we got Jewell from the local animal rescue, she was two years old and is now 5years old. she is part yorkie and part dacshund, a true dorkie. both were totally trained when we got them so we really lucked out with them and they are perfect matches for myself and my husband. jewell follows him around like a little shadow and jj follows me. |
my feral Boo My adopted boy has come a long way from being a new and shiny mess of nervousness here in our home to a more trusting version of himself. He's been with us since mid November (4 months) and he's learned basic manners and protocol (for his safety), however he's still that little feral canine about food. He has a lot of trust for me and keeps me in eye view at all times, but not sure he has a love for me. He's not a cuddly dog unless he's tired and he generally looks unto me (and the other humans in the fam as well) to tend to his needs. He's playful with us and enjoys our company but doesn't know how to enjoy or receive a kiss unless he's giving them. As well as cuddling...he turns it into play time. It's hard to explain. He is bonding, but it's slow...tho most people wouldn't know it by looking at the way he is with me (us), I do feel it. It's to be expected I'm sure. He is the first dog I have adopted as an adult so the difference between raising a pup and adopting a full grown canine is apparent. It makes no difference to me how long he needs till he's incorporated into the fold. He's here to stay and it'll only get better with time. :) |

Our Yogi came to us through a wonderful Rescue group called Tiny Paws Big Hearts. They were rescued from a puppy mill, mom and 4 adorable pups. We had 7 months of a terrible hacking/gagging cough/many vet visits, specialist, meds treatments, etc. So happy to report the cough is finally gone and Yogi is now a happy healthy 10 month old! Now vet says he can be neutered but I am so nervous to do it. I will do it but will research advice first re: anesthesia, etc. Any advice? |
My Maxie Girl I guess my story counts. We aopted our Maxie from someone who happened to be at a shelter when she was turned in. The lady we got her from kept her from November till the end of January when we got her. She got her up to date on all vaccines, tests, etc. She had two dachshunds and really couldn't handle a third. Maxie was very skittish when we first got her, especially around men. She did not want to walk anywhere but the concrete outside, but now is venturing into the yard. She has come a long, long way. Bear, our youngest male, has really brought her out of her shell. She plays with him all the time now. I still cannot get her to play with toys, though. She was a lifesaver for me, as I had just lost my baby girl Roxie, a few days before. |
I adopted Winston. He was kept back by a show breeder for the ring and just didn't make the cut. He howls like a beagle, so perhaps that's why he wasn't slated for the ring (amongst other reasons in sure). He went to an area placement service and I became his lucky new owner. He's a great dog, gets along with the others, and is very healthy. We call him the low carbon footprint. |
When I decided to start looking for a playmate for Hailey I told people that it had to be a rescue. A relative pointed me in the direction of a wonderful compassionate rescue called Stfbr.org (Shih Tzu & small Furbaby Rescue) They tend to have not only Shih Tzus but also Yorkies & Maltise, also mixes at times. Adorable every single one of them! In December we adpted the cutest little Morkie named Kennedy.....about a year old......she looks all Yorkie except she has papillon type ears...a real cutie pie. She is doing pretty good. She is really close to me but isn't that great with men yet most likely due to her puppy mill past...but we are working on it and she's doing pretty good. She is a real lovable little girl! And now there's another Yorkie at Stfbr that I really want to adopt. He's beautiful and so sweet....omg it's so hard once you adopt one, you realize what sweethearts they are.... I can't post any pics right now because I'm on my iPad. But you can see their pic together at the top of my Facebook page: name is Patti Hayden. |
