Hi there all!
Well my name is Diana Sparkowski and i'm new here, but I'm a yorkie lover and owner. I have 2 yorkies Harley my male is 5 and Halo my female is 3. Both are fixed, but I have shown Halo in IABCA shows in their companion class. She's won 3 BIS in her class. She's my Diva and she knows it. However her skirt has started to blonde out in her caboose end and thats a color fault, so she is now retired. Harley however is a platnum blonde, he's my beautiful boy, but not show material. I would have shown Halo in other AKC sanctioned shows but she was less than 4 lbs around a year old, so I spayed her, and lo and behold she gained a pound...lol I also have 2 Biewer Terriers. NOT party yorkies. I have shown Hoku in IABCA shows and he has his BIS rare breed international and national title. Miss Hana will be going to her 1st show in June.
I am a professional groomer by trade here in south GA. My specialty? YORKIES!! lol everyone brings them to me, and if they go somewhere else they always come back and ask me to fix the mistakes other groomers make.
I have come accross a lot of backyard breeders here in GA and FL. there is something about the south I haven't found an honest breeder here, and I wouldn't buy or recommend to any of my customers a AKA or CKC registered puppy within a 100mile. I know a lot of them because they come to the vet office where I work. Some from Florida some from northern GA and our surrounding area, so if you ask about someone I may know about them.

Aww thanks! I have a biewer too :) I need to learn how to groom him because every time I take him somewhere I am unhappy.

I trim my own also but would always take tips on how to do better. Do share please. Oh and welcome to yt

Hi and Welcome! Oh my goodness how wonderful of you to share to tips and on how to groom our yorkies.

Can you add a link to your facebook page so we can see your grooming video? My Lexi is 4 1/2 months and it's time for her to be groomed. But, I've read so many horror stories here on YT that I'm kind of scared to take her to a groomer. I brush/comb her everyday and she hates it. I don't know how patient a groomer will be with her.

OMGoodness, I have the same problems with brushing and combing Princess Sophie. I try to keep treats handy and she gets lots when I am trying to groom her but she has a few spots that she just doesn't want me to touch. I know I'm the boss but now she has some mats and just fights with me when I am trying to get them out. I have used Espree's Aloe Hydrating Spray but she just wiggles and fights with me. I could use some advice as well!!!

We did a lot of pretend grooming when Joey was a puppy. I would try to get him use to the different tools I would use, but I never did anything that could cause pain. I gave him a cheerio every few minutes and he really became good at being groomed. Joey's breeder told me to do everything matter-of-factly, they know when you're nervous, and so you have to put on a good show. Try to use a Detangler for spots that mat. Joey had a problem under his arms after wearing clothes and I would put a tiny bit of Cowboy Magic Detangler under his arms and work it in a circle between my thumb and forefinger and the mat would come right out without me hurting him. I also have used baby powder made of corn starch and it works pretty good too. Joey's coat is really easy to take care of now, but a puppy, it did give me some problems. The main thing you want to do as a puppy is get them use to grooming and let them think it's fun.
