my new yorkie A friend is giving me a 3 month old yorkie poo because she is too busy to properly take care of him. As a result of having MS, I am home 97% of the time,so I am home more than enough to be home with my new little guy. He will, of course, be neutered at 6 months old. I want him as a companion, not as a breeder dog. My question is this. She told me that both of his parent are yorkie poos are they were small. He weighs 5 pounds now. How much do you think he will weigh when he is an adult. It makes no difference on whether I get him, I still want him. I would just like to know. My granddaughter is already on her computer looking at cute little doggie clothes and I warned that we don't know how big he would get. My granddaughter has Asperger's Syndrome (autism) and is home-schooled), so our new yorkie poo will get lots of lots and attention. |

Companionship is one of a Dog's best features, but, it can really help you when it comes to it's ability to be observant of your surroundings, and even though small, create a big ruckus in your behalf, if it senses an intrusion. This is a very important function to/for me. I always praise my guys generously, when they alarm at the "right" things. |

this is just a guess but I would say he would be about 10 pounds full grown possibly a little more.. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk and Congrats. I have therapy dogs and I have seen some wonderful things happen between them and people. I really believe most people need a dog more than the dog needs them. Dogs can connect to that deep part of our soul, that we try to protect from people. To answer your question about size, I would think 10 pounds and under is a good guess. |
my new yorkie We have 2 indoor cats and that's the only reason I asked about the size. But they are so laid back that they only wake up to eat and use their litter pan. We have a laser mouse that Sammi uses just to make them get some exercise. Otherwise they would lay around all the time. I don't know if the fact that they are 6 years old has anything to do with it or not. They have been around dogs before and could care less. I think the puppy will be a wonderful therapy pet for my granddaughter,Sammi. She has Asperger's Syndrome and is very gentle with all animals. She can't wait to get her new friend. |
I think the charts say double the size at 12 weeks, but the size of the parents and the "grand"parents is more of a way to see. Welcome to yorkietalk.. and I know you will love and enjoy your new baby! |
It sounds like he will be in a very loving home. Congratulations. |
Congrats on your new baby! What are you naming him? |
