I love her cut!! She is so cute! |
Please take a look at Piper in the Photo Gallery. I just added the picture a few minutes ago so it should be near the top. He was 13 years old in the picture, and weighed 6 pounds. I loved how he looked cut like that! Now, a question for you all: I looked at puppies today- they just opened their eyes. The dad looks like the babydoll that I want, but the mother has a very long muzzle and sort of crossed eyes. I will have to choose my puppy at five weeks, since other buyers are waiting to choose after me. Is there any way to look at a puppy that young and tell if he will have the short muzzle like his daddy or the long one like his momma? Piper'smom |
Puppy Short Muzzle 1 Attachment(s) Jackson looked like this at 7 weeks. He has a very short muzzle. |
1 Attachment(s) At the groomers they mentioned a Teddy Bear cut which is very short hair on the body and longer on the face. A friend of mine sent me this pic. of his friends cutie who seems to have the teddy bear cut. I'd like to get that for my Honey next time he goes to the groomers. |
HoneysMom - That also looks a little bit like what they call a "Schnauzer cut," which is also a cute cut for Yorkies. I think the teddybear cut is a little rounder than the Schnauzer cut. Both look very neat and clean. Carol Jean |
You have to be careful when you ask for a puppy cut that they don't cut them too short though. |

(I'm not picky about the size of puppy I get, but I do like the shorter noses! :)) Oh, and...on topic...LOVE the puppy cuts! I was going to keep my doggie cut short, even before I found out that that was a comman thing to do! :p |
This Helps I LOVE this forum! You all ask all the questions that are floating in my mind that I want to know before I purchase a puppy. I also was wondering if it was possible to keep them with short hair year round or if they would be cold in the winter months... thanks for asking the question and for all the awesome feedback! I am still looking for a breeder on the east coast not too far away, but this forum helps with my research! |
I keep Daisy in a short cut year round and she does fine. But she is a larger Yorkie at 17 lbs. And she has a thick cottony hair. It is easy to maintain and when it's cold the selection you have for coats and sweaters is endless. Good luck in your search for a pup. |
I had Dooney in a "joey" cut for the summer and am currently growing out his hair but I'm not liking the way it looks right now.....so will be cutting his hair again....love Yorkie hair, so many ways to cut their hair....Dooney is a silky coat so he doesn't look good in a puppy cut. |
1 Attachment(s) Jilly and Piper have the puppy cut on their face. Jilly has long hair while piper has shorter hair. This is Jilly. Not a very good pic. But you get the idea. |
what's a "joey" cut??? Still learning all bout them yorkies... |
Its kind of like a modified schnauzer cut....hair on face and legs are kept long and body is shaved very close to skin.....a YT member had her Yorkie cut like this, his name was joey and the cut was very cute and got very popular on here, therefore called the "joey" cut. |
My Zoey has straight, silky thin hair. A puppy cut would not work on her. The hair texture is a major factor as to keeping the puppy look. Sigh! Wish she had a cotton coat. |
I see... :-) |
