What to use for dry skin? Benny is almost 16 weeks old and I have noticed that he has really bad dry skin. I purchased Yorkie Splash and Shine shampoo and conditioner to see if that would help but it hasn't. I make sure I rinse him off really good when I bath him. He really isn't scratching much but when he does it's his lower part of his back. I live in Ohio so most days it still feels like winter here. I was wondering if there is something that I can put on him to moisturize his skin? |
Mandie has dry hair and sometimes her tummy is dry. I put a little coconut oil in with her food. I also rub some on her belly. I've put some on her hair before but you have to be careful with that - stick to the roots and a little goes a long way or you'll have a greasy lookin' pup. lol |
Good job rinsing well. Make sure the bath water isn't too hot too. Keep it as cool as possible, while still tolerable so not to freeze your baby. I agree with a coconut oil supplement. Use a good organic, preservative free brand like CocoTherapy (available online) or Nutiva (available at the Vitamin Shoppe). I also use a fish oil supplement that has helped my boys' skin and coat. They love the taste. We use Animal Essentials, which I sell in my store. Another good one is Nordic Naturals. |
Thank you for the replies, I will be getting some organic coconut oil and try that with him to see if it improves his dry skin. |
