vent.... for those of you who are the primary caregiver to your pups, you ever feel like your spouse or SO just have no concept when it comes to following your directions on the care of your pup? i'm sooooo annoyed right now 'cause i keep giving specific instructions to my husband that if bunjee were to start pee'ing or poo'ing inside the house, to hurry up, pick him up and take him outside. but does he do that??? of course not! he waits for bunjee to finish, INSIDE THE HOUSE, and then comes over to tell me about it. when i ask why he didn't follow my instructions, i just get an "i don't know". arrgh. i would have better luck crating bunjee while i was in the shower. |
I have this same problem with my BF. Rocky is starting to go to the front door and whine because he needs to go out. Well, BF yells to "Rocky needs to go out", instead if just getting up and taking him out. Like I don't anything else to do (like laundry, cleaning, cooking). He wanted Rocky just as much as I did, but I have all the responsiblity. Training, bathing, feeding, etc. All he does is play with him. So you are not the only one that feels this way. |
Oh it's the same here too! Teddy can be doing summersaults and cart wheels by the door and my husband will look at me and say do you think he needs to go out? Duh...ya think? Does he get up at this point and let him out? NO...he thinks he has done something special because he alerted me I guess. |

Rockster's Mom, yeap... hubby basically just plays with the puppy and minimal "work" with the puppy. The thing is, when we first got the puppy we agreed that he'll be MY puppy, MY responsibility. Hubby doesn't have to do anything with him. So I'm the one who gets up at 3am to let bunjee out. I'm the one that wakes up at 6am to let him out again and feed him 3 hours later. Hubby doesn't lift a finger except to play with bunjee, walked him 2x in the month we've had him, and cleaned up his pee once during that time as well. So I was fully prepared to be "a single parent" and I'm fine with that. What annoys me is when hubby tells me, he'll watch bunjee while i take a shower or do whatever. and i'd be like... okay... and go do what need to do. and inevitiably hubby will scream out, "bunjee just took a dump!" while i'm still in the shower... and i'd be like, why didn't you stop him?... and he'd be like "i don't know." I'm just really annoyed that "watching bunjee" evidently means "watching him take a dump but do nothing to stop it per my instructions." and mind you, we're talking about watching bunjee in a 4'x10' space, not run after him in the house. if that was his definition of "keeping an eye" on bunjee, i would have rather put bunjee in the crate while i showered. at least then i know bunjee won't be doing his business in an inappropriate area of the house. with me keeping an eye on bunjee, bunjee's had 3 accidently-free days at the in-laws. i let my husband keep an eye on bunjee for 10 minutes, and he craps and pees on the laminate floor with no one to stop him. sorry for the ranting... i've just been working so hard to reinforce good habits, deter bad habits and instill good training in bunjee. i just feel like if hubby can't handle the responsibility, then he shouldn't even TRY to offer me an empty promise. |

If their not going to help, they should not offer to. That makes me so mad with my BF does the same thing your Hubby does. What is girl suspose to do? |
Oh my gosh I am laughing so hard I've got tears running down my cheeks! I am sooooo glad that I am not the only one going through the "single mommy" syndrome. Actually I should give my bf more credit. I work full time so 3 days out of the week he takes care of her and even gets up in the middle of the night if she cries, but sometimes when I really need him the most I'm stuck bringing her to my meetings (thank goodness my boss is so understnading!) More power to the single mommas! |
i seriously wonder if clicker training will work on husbands as well as it does on puppies. :p |
Same here, my husband and 20 year ld dtr only want to play with Cali when she is sleeping! Twice when my dtr was "watching her she ate a hole in the carpet and one in the wall. So the other day I had to run aout and my husband was "watching" her. I come home and she's not at the door to greet me, I ask where she is and he says she's in the penalty box, her crate, because she chewed a hole in the wall. When I said I thought you were going to watch her his response, " I can't watch her every minute! |

I want to see Teddy do some CARTWHEELS !!! ps...clicker training will never work on a husband unless it looks like a remote control and says TV on the front |
Kaytlyn will give you this little whine and then start doing circles and my hubby will just sit there or tell one of the kids to take her out...she has done this since she was trained and he just acts like she doesnt know what she is doing...She is 2..I think he has got it by now...grrrrrr |
hehehehe! I went to Vegas this summer and left husband and kids at home. I was gone 2 weeks. Come home to a filthy house, a green pool and nasty, dirty dogs. I WAS LIVID TO SAY THE LEAST! Today, dropped the kids off with his parents so that I could wrap gifts. Getting home, Rebel and Gracie was excited to see me as they always are. My husband says, "You guys never get excited when I come home!" I asked what happened and he said he came home from work, they met him at the door, acted like "Oh, it's only you" and walked away from him. Even though you are the primary caregiver of your dogs, they'll still bond with you more. |

Sounds like my house. I was gone only 2 days to visit my mom in Houston, and I came back home to a mess and it was just my BF at home Thank God, I took Rocky, but my poor cat had survive on her own. I was really upset because I cleaned the house from top to bottom before I left. |
