Bows for Boys We have had the pleasure of having Tucker with us for 3 months now, he has not been to the groomer yet, I have been bathing him once a week. I take him out quite a bit, but I put a little red clip in his hair to keep it out of his eyes...and I got so many comments...do not let boys wear bows or clips, my vet even mentioned it, ( I love my vet, don't get me wrong). My question is do you guys let your boys wear clips and bows? Will the first trip to the groomer take care of the hair falling right in his eyes? Thanks everyone in advance! I never knew having a Yorkie in the family would be such a joy!:) |
I have a boy and wouldn't put one in his hair, he's a boy not a girl. That's maybe just me. If the hair starts getting in his eyes I just trim it back. |
I don't have a boy but if I did I would definitely put bows in his hair..the vendors on here have some very cute boy bows. |
cedric dislikes anything like elastics or bows and will work them out in seconds. i trim his eye hair in the inner corners very close and the top and that takes care of the issue for us. i just have to trim it every couple of weeks but it also helps reduce his eye boogies which is an added bonus...so i do it iwth the girls also. |
I have a little boy. I personally want to grow a longer coat. At the moment I am only putting a clip in. I want him to get used to something in his hair. Then when it gets longer I am going to put boy bows in. I got a lovely bow from the breeder when I got him. |
I use bows for my boy. I get them at BowBiz. They have a zillion different kinds of bows & half a zillion that look cute on a boy...They're made really well too. Dog Bows by BowBiz I also use little barrettes & black rubber bands to keep the hair out of his eyes. My favorite is the little, tiniest jaw clip with the no-slip grip... There's nothing wrong with using a bow, clip or barrette on a boy...he's a YORKIE! |
We have a boy and girl. My little girls always has her hair pulled up in a pony with a bow. Our Max is my husbands buddy and his hair is very short. My DH wants it that way and no way on earth would he allow a bow in his hair! Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it! As long as the bow has a masculine look to it! :) |
My Tuffy wears a topknot & we often use bows that are more masculine...reds, blues, greens, black. I wouldn't worry about what others say; he's YOUR dog, do what you like! :) |
I would put bows in a boy dog hair if I had a boy. They put show bows in boy yorkies when they show them in dog shows. :) |
Not only do I put bows, scrunchies, bands, clips, etc. in both Brody's and Mia's topknots, I make bows for both of them to wear. My kids do not wear bows daily unless I am with them, but they do wear a band or scrunchie daily in their topknots. |

Mine both wear bows. Laddy has a Harley hat to cover his topknot when he goes with DH:p. He isn't crazy about the bows for Laddy but I made him some cute black and white ones with different things on the ribbon so he is more manly lol. |
We keep P-Nut cut short, so no real need for clips/bows. And although his "papa" is ok with some things (a few crystals on his Buddy Belt for example, or the rhinestone skull on his camo shirt), he will not stand for bows. Line drawn in the sand, foot firmly down...Lol. |
I think as humans we push our gender norms on dogs... We forget, they are dogs :) My boy wears a top knot and rocks it well! I wouldn't listen to what other people say, if you want it in a clip... go for it! |
for me I wouldn't put a bow in my boys hair, think it looks silly and wouldn't want another doggie making fun of them when out in public lol. I dress my boys in boy appropriate clothes and they look just as cute along side Molly with her hair done and girls clothes on |
