Well that was totally unexpected. I know I really whined about the trainer last night but she really did help guide me with Bentley's biting problems. Put her instruction into action as soon as we got home last night. I wake up this morning, Bentley is laying right up against my side. First shock. For whatever reason he loves to sleep down alongside my feet. I start to scratch his back and speak softly to him to wake him up and he hops right up on my shoulder. (Prepares for the usual nipping and ready to fight it off.) Much to my surprise he just covers my face with kisses. Just went to town, I'm laughing and say that's enough. Final shock. He practically body slams across my throat(who knew that 4 lbs of fur ball could practically cut the air off lol)and lets out a big sigh and lays completely still across my throat. He's such a silly boy. :p |
Now that's a great to wake up in the morning! Congrats, it sounds like whatever you are doing is working well. Morning kisses are the best!! |
hehe thats a cute lil stop breathing story. glad the trainer helped with nipping issues. may he continue to be a good boy!! |
That's great to hear. |

I don't know if you have even seen the "ear vac" infomercial on TV but my kids tease me saying I sound just like the guy who was hurting his ears with a q-tip when I ouch at Bentley. lol |
I found it, all you need to do is watch the first 8 seconds to get the idea what my kids think I sound like. :yelrotflm |
Tone is really a valuable tool in training dogs. Some just cannot muster the authority tone that is needed to get the pup's attention. It's good you found the right yelp tone! When I finally learned it when Gracie was a puppy she would jump back and then lick my hand because she felt so bad that she had hurt me. If only we knew all the doggy language! |
