Hello all...
 
I have had my sweet 1 year old Boo for over 3 months now and he came to me as a 2 and a half pound feral, ill mannered, wilder beast. The training was slow as he was in a new environment and we really wanted his transition to be calm and nurturing. He stands with confidence now from where it was lacking due to having no boundaries, skills or routine. Within the few months he came to live with our family we've lovingly injected those desirable traits without his even realizing he was in training (24/7). He's an extremely obedient terrier now that loves his life and family and lives it to the fullest. My only complaint is still the way he attacks raw vegetables and attempts to consume them whole instead of slowly and calmly chewing lol. I suppose he won't be getting any large wedges any time soon...but he's an adoring and participating member of this family and BOTH my babies are happy, healthy and leading a hugely satisfying quality of life. ~Thank you all for the help I needed to learn how to understand the mind of a Yorkie and feel the confidence to raise a dog (rather than a puppy) into a "gentleman" with such easy.~ ;):D

How great is that . . . Im so glad that you were able to find the help that you needed in order to turn this little guy around. I hope that you have a life time of happy, healthy pups who fill your heart with much love.

Thank you for taking the time read it...and the wishes. I can't imagine any perfect dog (and I truly believe all dogs are perfect...) not bringing me happiness and joy in this tough world upon which we live. :) Thanks again. :animal-pa

Thanks so much for taking a sec to read the ending of my little story. This little tiny boy is just an example of what is begging to be adopted and have a forever home without worry or concern of being given up on. All dogs can be turned around and "reborn"...I mean people claim to be reborn all the time, why can't the same hold true for the canine race. With our help, the helping hand of human...we can provide more adoption and happy endings with a little faith and fortitude. If I can ANYONE can. ;) Thanks again.. <3

Haha thanks! I think it's beginning of my career of adopting dogs...(I was more familiar with adopting unwanted puppies). I now see how easy it can be to turn around a young adult dog. I wonder how it would be to adopt an older one...? I'm on a roll... :D

I am learning that any adoption can end in a success story... All it takes is the understanding of how a canine mind works and VOILA! Dogs are creatures of habit and luckily I can provide that. OH! Consistency is the antidote to turning a dog around... (thanks to Cesar Milan!!!) and doggy books lol :D :D

Thanks so much! :D I'm not gonna lie...I'm not that special tho...all it took was (like you said) commitment, perseverance, and routine, routine ROUTINE. I read a lot of doggy books and watch Cesar Milan on the tube. I'm just a woman who loves the canine race and have seen thru many of my years with dogs that they need an alpha and are ready to follow (Cesar is no slouch! Lol). Too many people treat their dogs like human children. If you remember that your cute little Yorkie all dressed up in that adorable outfit is STILL a dog and you demand his/her obedience your relationship will be better cus the dog will know his place in the pecking order (and BOY do they desire a pecking order), so a greater bonding begins to seal and a partnership develops. It's really cool :cool: Thanks again :D

You have done wonders with this boy and are to be congratulated in a big way. Thank you for taking him into your home and giving him all your attention and love...........not to mention nice veggies. Don't worry about his desire to eat them up before they are taken from him (so he thinks) he will get better with time when he knows food will always be there for him. ;)

Thanks for the nice compliment. I really hope you're right about his food issues. It's like he's never been fed before and I know that he had been. The woman that had him was even feeding him with top quality all natural crunchy bits... She claimed he only ate enough to sustain life and wasn't an eater. I feed him with Grandma Lucy's reconstituting food and he scoffs up as much as he can as FAST as a whip...he acts as if he's starving and I won't feed him more than a portion for his weight class. He'll scarf down a baby carrot so fast he won't even take the time to chew. I had to perform the Heimlich maneuver once cus the wedge of an apple was swallowed WHOLE. I've reduced his whole edible world to tiny pieces and thin slices. He didn't come from a place where he was starved... She free fed him bag food...it's just that she NEVER EVER fed him people food because she was worried he'd start begging for food and she did not want that. Please be right about his food issues...lol :D :D :D
