grossed out! I just caught my 12 week old pup eating his poop! What can we do to stop it? Is he eating it because I've been scolding him whenever he pooped on the carpet? But this time he pooped on his pad then ate it quickly. I wasn't fast enough to clean it up. |
Oh, yuck. Apparently this is not a rare thing. I have never encountered it. There are things you can feed your dog that is supposed to help them to stop. The vet also has a food additive that is supposed to work well. Pineapple has been recommended here quite a bit. I don't know how I have missed out on this after all the dogs I have had over the years. |
Welcome to the club. Not only did Brandi eat her own poop she also used to eat the cat's poop as well. Your little one is probably eating poop because he is missing something in his diet and because he likes the taste of it. I don't think it has anything to do with scolding him. Dogs just like eating poop which is why I only let Brandi lick me on my nose. No french kissing here:p I remember this one time I even caught her trying to eat another dog's poop while walking her.....which is a big no no. I got to her before she ate all of it. Heck Brandi has even eaten her vomit as well as the cat's hairball. I've seen her eat some the most grossest things, I am surprised she hasnt gotten sick from all that yuck. |
Hello and welcome to YT. Give him some chucks of pineapple. That should work |
