Odd behavior - please help! My 2 year old yorkie (named Debit) likes to be around my husband and me but, today when I came home from work I walked into a very odd scenario - My husband was home with Debit all day.... his tail has been between his legs and moving every few minutes to get "comfortable" following my husband everywhere, always asking to get picked up and sitting on his lap whenever he sits down. Now that I am home he is doing the same with me. He is laying on my lap now as I type this.... just way overly clingy.... it's just not like him at all. He isn't throwing up, and last went to the bathroom normally around 4 hours ago. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I don't know whether we should take him to the vet if he has no real physical symptoms.... Any advice would be so greatly appreciated!!!! He's scaring us. |
I would definitely keep an eye on him and if he's still acting oddly tomorrow, take him to a vet. Sudden changes in behavior can be triggered by various things, but I would always recommend ruling out a physical and medical problem first. Keeping Debit and you all in my prayers. |
These darlings can not vocalize, but they can certainly get their point across to mommy and daddy!! I agree with above....watch him closely, but dont wait more than an additional 24 hours to get him to the vet....they can go downhill very quickly....and they usually do that in the middle of the night, so you are rushing to the ER with a terribly ill baby.....BIG BUCKS!!!! Take him to your vet tomorrow if he isnt back to normal....he has gotten into something, or maybe scared himself, or he ate something and his tummy is not right....sometimes it takes a while for the diarrhea to start....he doesnt have any "dingle berries" hanging on under his tail from a bm, does he??? Mine act like that is everything doesnt drop off exactly right....dont like poo in the hair back there, and they will come to me to "GET IT OFF"!!!! |
thank you both!! we will definitely be keeping an eye on him :) |
Troy was acting this way yesterday. He is acting completely normal today. He has never reacted toward looming scary weather, but last night we had a pretty bad storm, so I think it could have possibly been that. I was fully prepared to take him to the vet today if he wasn't better. Now he's normal and we didn't have to go to the vet. |
Just wanted to give an update.... Debit is doing better today and acting normal. He had a bowel movement this morning and he must have ate something foreign.... because it came out. Ever since he has been acting like his energetic fun self. Thanks again for your comments!! |
