Long trips in the car? Hello: How does your Yorkie handle long rides in the car? (ie - 4 hours +) We are taking Brady with us to Toronto and I'm really curious to see how she handles the drive. Also, since she is used to being able to pee/poo whenever she wants on the pad at home I wonder if she'll be able to hold it? Thanks! |
We take take Buddy & Jake camping with us and they do great on the long trips. They will not potty in the car, we usually make at least one stop along the way and let them run and relieve themselves if they need to. Also, I make sure that they have eaten and pooped before we leave the house. |
I have never had mojo in the car for that long, but the lil guy loves going on rides, usually after a while he just lays down and take a nap. |
Hailey has never been in the car longer than an hour but she does great in the car. she usually wants to sit on my lap though. :p |
Hi everyone! The weekend I got Lily, we took her in the car for 7 hours. She was really great about letting us know when she needed to tinkled (not one accident), and we would let her hang out in her cage in the backseat unless she wanted held or played with. It was fine and she never complained :) |
Longest car ride my dogs have ever had is 12 hours. They slept most of the way. We had 3 pit stops. However, if your dog is not use to the long drive you may have to stop a little bit more. |
Thanks for this info you guys read my mind! I need to take my 2 yorkies on a 9 hour trip 1 way and of course 9 hours back. So they really sleep most of the way? I have only taken them around the city so this is going to be an experience with a 3 year old son potty trained...we will probably be making lots of stops anyway. Any other advice for the newbies? ;) |
