Max surgery advise Max is fixing to go to vet for neuter, wart removed from leg & teeth cleaning. Does anybody have any pre-surgery/post-surgery advise. I want him to be as comfortable and happy as possible as he heals. Should I keep him crated to protect his stitches? Thanks |
My main advice is to make sure your vet does a PRE-surgery blood workup! This should be done before ANY surgical procedure, when anesthesia is involved. It could be the difference between life and death. |
I agree pre surgery blood work up is essential |
My 10 month old just had her spay and some puppy teeth removed yesterday. She was out of it last night but this morning seems to be almost back to herself. I don't have any kind of cone on her to keep from licking her incision but right now she doesn't show any interest in licking. I agree with above advice, make sure vet does preliminary bloodwork. I was surprised that some vets don't do any type of bloodwork before surgery. Would you happen to be from Atwood, IL? |
Definitely have the pre-op blood work done. You never want to take any chances. I think some dogs are more apt to lick their wounds than others. Watch him carefully, especially if he has absorbable sutures. Our Maggie was spayed earlier this month and she was back to normal in a day or two. She had 5 baby teeth pulled also so she was sore. You just need to make sure to restrict his activity, no jumping until he's healed. It's easier said than done :eyebrow2: |
Sorry, I just noticed yoy're from TN not IL. |
