Dirty Bum Bum!! My baby King is just over 4 months old and I need help with him! First off, he only pees on his puppy mat, he doo doos everywhere else but I talked to the pet store guy and he gave me some really good tips so hopefully they work. The other problem with his doo doo is everytime he goes I have to give him a bath. He gets it all matted up in his fur and he smells really bad so I can't let him up on me (I also have a baby 4 days older than him who I'm usually holding and I don't want to get his poop on her, any other time the puppy loves to cuddle with the baby) Anyways, do you have the same problem? When I bath him I usually throw up cuz the smell is so bad but after he's clean he smells so good and feels soft. Should I get him groomed? I'm concerned about that because he still needs his last set of needles and he is just a pup so I think I should wait until the weather warms up more. Or should I just keep bathing him everyday and live with it? lol Please help :) |

Trim his bum. I trim Molly an Keegan all the time. |

Yup, get a groomer to trim his rear area..needs to stay trimmed or this will continue to happen. |

Agree with the other posters...it will help so much if you trim the area. |

The groomer will trim the hair around his little butt so it the poo won't get caught there. You might want to watch how they do it so you can keep up with it between groomings. All you really need is some small round tipped scissors to trim the area. You may need someone to help you hold him if he is not happy about it. Try to use an all natural line of shampoos and conditioners when you bathe him. That way his skin will get conditioned when you bathe and not stripped as the regular brands do. I bathe Gracie weekly but when she was a puppy a couple of times I had to put just her butt in the sink for a partial bath. Make sure his poos are not too soft. If he has loose stools all the time you might want to have him checked out. |

I always use dry food. I worry that wet food makes wet poo. Rarely have problems, but keep his bum trimmed. I do the no no and have a " baboon butt" and keep his entire bottom trimmed from rectum down. I still occasionally have a hanger, but not so often. |

Thanks guys. I have given the little guy a bath again and tried to trim his fur down myself a bit but he is too hyper and wiggly. I will wait til my bf comes home from work and maybe hd can help me :) I don't know why I just didn't think of doing that already! |

Lola has a lot of hair down there, LOL I blame it on her pom side and it is not always trimmed but it is super rare that anything gets caught or stuck, her poops are very solid and don't leave her stinking. Besides keeping that area trimmed I would be concerned about his poops being too loose and messy if they are getting stuck that often and smell that bad. I am sure many of you can relate to the poop half in half out problem, now that is a gagger but should only happen once in a great while. To be getting that messy and that stinking it sounds like more going on than just hair down there |
