Odd behavior tonight Our 2 1/2 year old Harley is having odd behaviors tonight. He has always had anxiety "issues" from day one. We got him at 10 weeks old and I dont know if he was born with mental issues or if he was abused before we got him. Pacing circles started from day one..... Anyway, tonight he was running in circles around the coffee table for almost an hour. He would growl at us if we came near him. He has never growled at us because is very submissive. Sometimes he will run in circles if he is hungry or needs to go out, but that was not the case tonight. I dont know what caused this episode. He just totally freaked out. He was acting overly excited?? He is just now stopped the pacing, but still growls if we touch him. Anyone ever encountered anything like this??? Besides his anxiety issues, he's completely healthy. I have talked with my vet before about his behavior issues, but all she does is give me Xanax and tells me to call a behavior therapist. It has kinda freaked us out:confused: Any ideas?? |

No puppy doc here either but...could this be a seizure thing? Or some neurological something? |
No I have never had his liver function tested before. I searched the internet for answers and all I could come up with was compulsion disorder?? My poor little guy |

We lost our oldest yorkie 3 months ago and I cannot bear for something to be wrong him to :( |
I would get a second opinion...explain fully what you saw tonight. Im hoping some of the more experienced owners will post here... I know its very hard not to worry or think the worse...but try try not too. I will be thinking about you n your pup! |
Was there anything goin on outside? Maggie was growling a bit tonight near the front door but nothing was out there. Sometimes she hears sirens that I don't hear unless I open the door. She will growl at the sound. |
I'd be looking for a better vet if no bloodwork or anything has been done. With any type of behavioral problem or changes, medical issues need to be ruled out first. A video to show the vet would be best. |
Okay this is going to sound weird but my yorkie stood up in her bed last night at around 930pm for no reason and started barking. Husband and I were both in the room with her. He even got up to check the front door. She has NEVER done that..we are almost in nc. Maybe some atmospheric change we dont see? It was so odd...she was sound asleep..and all of a sudden stands up and bark bark bark.. |
OK! my three did the same thing last night! matter of fact they did it a few times...Freaked me out the first time...I was watching My Ghost Story!! I didn't want to look up! LOL....we went to bed around 11:30 and they did it again! Hubby got up to see what they were barking at and their was nothing there...However....I agree...I would have a full blood panel done to see what's going on...especially if this isn't normal behavior for him. |
Oh great.... They have sensed that the aliens have landed! I just don't have time for aliens right now, sigh. (Just kidding for those that think I am an ET KooKoo) lol |

To OP: I suggest you have another Vet check your dog and do some lab work. There are many things besides liver problems, that can cause this sort of behavior. I would try to catch the behavior on film. This way the Vet could see what is happening. Hugs Please up date us when you can. |
