Please help! Hi I am trying to purchase my first yorkie. I would love to know if any of you have ever purchased or know some one who has from bayou puppies. I found the perfect one there I just would like some references to be sure:) thank you very much |
I haven't but are they listed on the YTCA website? I would go there and look at recommended breeders for that area and see. |
I just checked their website. Sorry, but many major red flags!!! * First of all, they breed 4 different breeds (so they say). * Second, They have a LOT of dogs. The yorkie dams they show are mostly under 5 lbs., TOO SMALL FOR BREEDING SAFELY. I didn't even look at their other breeds. * Third, they advertize "designer dogs". (AKA expensive mutts.) * Fourth, their statement regarding breeding unusual colors seems rather defensive. * Fifth, the cutesy website, although that's not always a red flag. I'd just not get sucked in by that. *Sixth, they use the "Teacup" word . * Lastly, they are NOT listed by YTCA Proceed with caution. If it's not a puppy mill, I'd be surprised. |
I am glad you were able to look at the website..I couldn't from work. Red flags galore..run from them |

1 Attachment(s) Yep, it's rural NE Louisiana. Perfect spot for a mill. Not saying it IS, but if it quacks like duck, ya know.... Google map view property: |
I would try to find a breeder close enough that you can go see the parents and visit the pups. This way you can not only see how they are raised but can develop a relationship with the breeder for the future, in case you need them after you bring your baby home. Welcome to YT and good luck in your search. I hope you find the perfect baby for you and above all that it is healthy. |
Thank you all for the help. I'm defiantly going to be careful and look around.:) |
Have we come to a conclusion about Bayou Yorkies? And did anyone report it for possible puppy mill? Just curious. |

Please please do not buy from this person. They are not a good reputable breeder. They are breeding dogs under 5 pounds which is very dangerous and shows they don't care about there dogs at all. They also have way to many breeds and dogs to simply be in one house. I would use YTCA.org to find a good reputable breeder. |

BTW, the answer is yes...most likely a puppy mill, you don't want to buy a puppy from here...start with YTCA for some leads, hopefully you find what your looking for....if you need more advice about another breeder do not hesitate to ask!!! |
question for the OP, your info says you live in CO, how did you find the perfect yorkie in LA. If you are only going by what you saw on the internet please be very careful, there are tons of people that will tell you the dog that was shipped to them often looked nothing like the picture on the internet, some were many weeks younger than stated and many have arrived sick. I love shopping via the web, I bought my Ugg boots and sewing machine that way, but a living breathing pet, no way those I like to go see in person, cuddle with, play with and see their personality. Do yourself a favor and try to find a pet locally from a shelter or a breeder. Good luck |
