Couple of questions! First of all I am having horrible luck at finding a treat that Baxter will eat. I want to use treats for good behavior. He will eat not eat anything I buy. I am taking suggestions for a popular treat that Yorkies like to eat. I realize they are all different, but if there is a popular treat made for Yorkies please tell me. I have to go town to Petsmart later today. He eats Science Diet, so I prefer a good healthy treat! Second of all - how many people taped their puppies ears? I work with a few people who have Yorkies & they all taped their ears. I kind of like his floppy ears as a puppy, but think I might want them to stand as an adult. His breeder told me they would eventually stand on their own, but his still flop. He's almost 3 months old. Just curios as to how many people prefer the ears to stand & if so did they do it on their own or did you tape them? So what's a good treat? And do I let his ears be & let them do whatever they choose to do? |
Mine wont eat any kind of treat and chattiesmom asked if she could send some yorkie yummies they could try to see if they would eat them and they loved them its the only treat they will eat |

As for the hair on the ears, he may need to have it trimmed to get them to stand. I have Yorkies with ears that stood up and one that had floppy ears. I perfer the stand up ears, but my Lizzie who had the floppy she looked so cute. I have never had to tape ears at all. |
I have also used Cheerios as treats but mine absolutely love boiled chicken cup into very small bites. Sophie will do flips for them. |
We like Zuke's minis and carrot sticks mostly. I am going to try the Yorkie Yummies..not sure why I haven't yet. And, I've never used Cherrios, but they are popular..may try those too :) |
Roxy eats Wellness WellBites for treats. They are squares that are soft enough to break off small pieces. If a treat is big, it's not a treat... it's a toy to be carried from room to room to room. It's hers, she knows it's hers, but it's not a treat. She knows where every single one of them are too. LOL The WellBites come in different flavors, smell good & to her... that's a treat. She'll also eat dehydrated chicken real well. Also easy to break up. I've always kept her treats small as their tummies are so small, I didn't want a treat to actually amount to a meal. I never taped Roxy's ears. Hadn't really even heard of doing that. I just figured they would when it was time, and they did all on their own at about 3-4 months. One came up and about a week or so later the other came up. Good luck! |
I haven't found a treat Chloe likes yet either. I'll have to try cheerios. |
KS favorite treat is celery! She goes nuts! |
Frozen green beans, they thaw in seconds and cheerios, alsomsome people here use yoghurt drops. |
Oh yeah... Roxy also likes carrots, green beans, peas, cauliflower, cabbage. She doesn't care if it's raw or cooked. Bananas, apples too. She doesn't like any of the more acidy type fruits. |

Boiled chicken or Life's Abundance treats. I think Ahi is the most pickiest pup around but she loves Life's Abundance treats. Tasty Rewards Training Treats |
For training, teddy refused all basic treats. He will only respond when I use chicken or hot dogs. |
Zukes, bil jacks (available at petsmart), (also available in several flavors) and yorkie yummies. Ear taping....personal choice....first trim hair off of his ears to get weight off, that alone may do the trick....If not, yes, you can tape....usually just a couple of days will stand those puppies up! Be careful what kind of tape you use though and that the ears are shaved first, otherwise it can really hurt taking the tape off! |
I boil chicken breasts in spring water (with the bone) strain, cool (scrape off the fat) and then put the broth in ice cube trays. I give her that sometimes to lick and also I take the boiled chicken and give her a few pieces. I thought I was giving too much until I saw how much the trainer gave her.. Shes a little piggy... |
