I attempted making my own steps out of wood but DH wouldn't help me hold them to screw the parts together...lets just say they died a quick death :D |
I have two (2) sets from Walgreens, originally priced at $19.99, I think, that I bought on "closeout"...I forget the brand ("Pet-"something) and the closeout price markdown sequence that enticed me...;)...but they look like the ones on the Target link Lap Princess posted. They slid too badly on wood, tile and laminate flooring to be useful, so I cut 4 strips of non-skid material and taped a strip around the entire length of each of the four 'floor runner' parts. Now the steps do not slide, which would be great if I could get my kids to use them...they still prefer to jump or 'beg' to be air-lifted......they seem to be 'scared' to climb or descend the steps...not sure how much is 'pretense' if you get my meaning. ;) We are working on this because our bed is quite high and I got the steps because I worry about a slip and/or misstep when they are jumping down. I'd be horrified if either was injured in this way. I think the steps we have are supposed to support pets up to 70 lbs., so I am hoping my Yorkies never exceed that...;):p...and I suppose they could be strengthened by permanently gluing all the parts together. For now, the set in the bedroom collects dust, and the set in the living room makes a great variable height footstool for DH and I while watching TV. :D |
