Piddle pads My Yorkie is 10 months old. He is neutered and not house broken. He will not use piddle pads, but shreds them. I have tried since he was 6 weeks old. Any solution? |
Have you tried a pad holder? They also sell some spray that is suppose to attract them to the pad. I do not know if it works or not. |
Today, they sell holders for them, and there are reusable pads as well, but even before disposable piddle pads, we used newspaper with plastic underneath and nylon net over it, taped down with masking tape to slow down the paper shredders...:p The net is easy to clean and reusable even wet...we always tried to keep the the edges dry by the 'rubber band tie dye' method whenever possible. Nylon net was very inexpensive back then...and much easier than picking up all that paper! :D |
I use washable pads... They cannot be shred!! Good luck! |
hospital pads were given to me from bredder. They are heavy and work great..pain to wash though so I started putting disposables over them and she got the idea |
You can buy pad holders at PetsMart, Petco etc. Also, you could use washable pee pads. |

Where do I get the nylon net??? I have a little girl now that shreds the piddle pads....I want this resolved before she goes to her new home! (I had tried washable pads and it seemed to confuse all my dogs...they started peeing on rugs all over the house, going into the laundry room where I had clothes separated on the floor, and peeing in the clothes....they obviously could not tell the difference between cloth washable pee pads and cloth rugs and cloth clothes, etc!...I had never had THAT issue before so I went right back to disposable pee pads! |

Nylon Net 72'' & special occasion fabric at Joann.com Home : Shop | Joann.com › fabric › apparel fabric › special occasion fabric 100% nylon. Machine wash warm, no chlorine bleach. Tumble dry on low, remove promptly. 72" wide, sold in whole yard incremets only. |
The pee pad frames are also sold on Amazon. Make sure you get one that has a top part that locks down on the pad so it does not move at all. You want one that fits the pad you are using also. If you use a pad that does not have the attractant on it then you can buy a liquid housebreaking aid that contains a hormone that attracts the dog to pee on the pad. Other than that you need to have constant supervision over him until he is totally trustworthy. Some people have tethered the dog to them with a 6' lead. That way the dog is with you at all times, cannot wander away, and you can see when it is about to potty and get it to the potty on time. |
