:) Hi Carroll Welcome, You are going to love it here, I myself do not know of were you can get a show quality dog, am sure many people here will help you with that. I just wanted to say hello and welcome |
princecharlie10 , thank you for your warm welcome I am sure I will have lots of fun here. thanks |
Hello and welcome to Yorkie Talk :) I'm pretty sure there are a few Show Quality breeders here on the forum. Have you shown before? Do you have any dogs currently? Great to have you here!! :) |
I know of several breeders to get a show quality dog. Do you have experience in showing? Sometimes some of the "show breeder" may not sell to just anyone, they may want someone whom has experience. They also sell them for a lot more money. It would be a good idea for you to attend some dog shows and talk to people in your area whom are active in YTCA and AKC dog shows. Ask if any of them would be willing to mentor you and help you get your foot in the door. |
Oops! forgot to mention that Pat on this forum would be a great person to give you advice since she has shown and has a great deal of knowledge on the topic. I'm sure there are some others as well. Good luck. |
pup Hi..if you contact me by PM or at Primyork@aol.com I will be happy to help you with info. Pat |

You will probably have a hard time finding a yorkie to show. show breeders are very cautious about who they will sell a show prospect to, and if they do I can assure you it will be a male first. You will more than likey get it on a co-ownership contract until you finish the dog. You need to find someone that shows in your area and contact them and see if they will be your mentor and would be willing to sell you a show dog. You will have to prove yourself before they will agree to a sale. I know how hard it was for me, but now I have been accepted into the show circuit. A lot of people say they want to show but after a year or two, if they do not win and get a lot of points right away they quit, which bothers the true show people. It is a hobby, but it is an expensive hobby. |
