Food & treats Baxter is a very finicky puppy. I have found he will eat Science Diet puppy food for toy breeds. Just making sure Science Diet is good for Yorkies. Also I have not found a treat he will eat. I am wanting to use treats for good behavior & training. He will not eat any I've bought. Is there ANY type of chew bone that they can have to keep them entertained when I am gone? I don't want to leave him with something that he could chew off a piece of & choke, or it inbed in his intestines. A lady at Petsmart was showing me some that he can not to do, but I wanted YT members to suggest one, IF there is truly one. Right now I have a fear of him choking on anything. I had this phobia with my kids & Grandbabies too! |
My gal eats royal canin calm but I mix a tablespoon of home made chicken broth and pout it over the food (no salt, just water and chicken breasts on the bone cooked for an hour or so) I found that if it has a meat smell she will eat anything. As to treats i give her peices of the cooked chicken. Two breasts for a little yorkie will last all week. I also got a kong and mix some broth, chicken and her kibble together, stuff it in the kong and then freeze it. She loves it and is exhausted when she is through licking that thing. |
I am feeding Sam the SD small breed puppy food also. I've done research on it, and think it is a good choice for us. Plus, he will actually eat it without a fight - mostly. If you are comfortable with a food, and Baxter agrees, then go with what works for you. You will find as many opinions as you will food brands here; and as I've seen stated several times - there is NO one perfect food. |
