Messy eater Max has started scattering his food all over the floor when he eats. I have a Mat under his bowl with plenty of room for spills and dropping food. This just started about 3 days ago. Any advise how to stop it bc Mama doesn't like it!! :(:(:( |
i gave up doesnt matter if i put it in a bowl or a plate or a bigger bowl it's all over. once i take the three plates away they usually clean up the mess for the most part. hehe. hopefully someonelse will chime in with a solution. |
No solution, just understanding. Scooter eats so fast the food literally flies all over. |
Morgan has a mat under his bowl and he still makes a mess |
Is the mess from eating really fast that scatters his food? Or just picking out pieces and laying them down, leaving them? If it is fast eating, you could buy him one of those special bowls engineered to force the dog to eat slowly. If he's picking out pieces and leaving them, changing to a food he likes all of or soaking and mixing his food into more like a pudding or gruel consistency should stop that. |
You could also just put a tennis ball in the dish with his food. We did that with our schnauzer and it really slowed him down. He has a rather small bowl so we put in one of those mini tennis balls. Found them in the pet section at Wal-Mart. Good luck!! |
I have no solution to offer. Ours do the same thing over here. They actually pick out the hard food to eat the soft food. Sometimes they go back and eat what they picked out, other times they don't. |
messy eater Yes, I think maybe it is pieces he doesn't like! Thank you I never thought about that. |
Wow, glad you brought this up, I always thought it was just a yorkie thing, Gizmo's dry food bowl of food stays down all day on a matt next to his water bowel. I feed him Rachel Ray kibble and he likes to take bite of food out of the bowl and place it on the floor then eat a piece at a time. He has always done this I simply have to clean up broken bits several times a day. I've tried changing the bowl several times, it does not matter he still puts a mouth full of kibble on the floor then eats it. |
