How many toys does your Yorkie(s) go through? How many toys does your Yorkie (or Yorkie's) go through? In a Week / month / Year. I haven't posted a lot here (but check out the forum daily) but this question popped into my head this afternoon and I wanted to see if Mica is above or below or right in the middle. I would say my Mica goes through about 6 toys a month - chews the heck out of them. I don't know if she is a rough player or has really sharp teeth. How about your Yorkie(s)? |
I wish mine would play with toy's. |
My 2 have never "gone through" a toy.....Sugar is 6 1/2 and curri is 16 months. They really aren't into toys much. |
My dogs LOVE toys, but they are really gentle with the stuff they own. It usually takes a couple of months before a toy has been used enough for me to be able to throw it away to make room for new toys :p |
Max doesn't play with toys and Teeka plays but doesn't destroy! She has her favorites but really does not tear them apart. I had a couple of "foster" yorkies and one of them dissected  one of her stuffed toys, so she was limited to a certain toy that only bounced and squeaked! I guess it depends on the dog! :D |
Interesting question. Princess Sophie has put holes in a toy we have had for 10 years. LOL I think she's gonna be a terror! HAHAHA |
I stopped buying toys for mine. My little Chloe is absolutely OBSESSED with new toys and will stop at nothing until she rips a head, ear , nose or leg off of it :aimeeyork The only toys that have made it thru the storm are those cloth Kong toys.. she's a silly little girl:) |
It depends on the toy. ZoE can annihilate some toys in less than 2 minutes!!! Others can last a couple of months. What I find interesting is that she knows the difference between her play toys and her snuggle toys. She has a bear that she's had since she was 6 weeks old, and she still has it at two years old, and it doesn't have a single hole in it. :) |
The only toys mine have ever destroyed are tennis balls. I don't let them have them anymore because Laddy will chew all the fuzz of one in a matter of days. Other than that they have toys we bought them as pups to this day and they play with them all the time.. |
No longer buy any toys that have fabric or stuffing, milo kills those in a week. I would need to start a toys fund to keep those toys in rotation. We have had stuffing all over the house, where is the toy's leg? and on top of that, I hated picking up slobbered toys. So plastic type toys only. Takes him longer to go through them, and satisfies my disanitizing germ-phobic needs. But yeah Milo is still a chewer at 14 months and needs new toys just about every two months, once pieces come off. |
In three weeks Sam has chewed the ears and horn off a stuffed rhino, the nose off of a teddy bear, and has almost killed the squeaker in his no-stuffing dog. I'm kinda obsessed with buying toys for him, though, so it's all good. |
I've bought about 15 toys for Chewie. He loves them, but then again, he's still a pup. I'm trying to teach him to chew on his TOYS and not my slippers and various other things... The only toys I see that he's actually destroying are those cheap, thin, squeaky toys I bought at Walmart. They already have holes in them after one week. Guess I'll just have to buy some more. :D (My bf says I buy WAY too many toys...) |
Honey loves her toys and plays rough with them but she still has her first toy that I brought her when she came home. |
Luma kills every toy she ever gets in one sitting. Even super durable ones. It's really annoying. I should post a pic if Luma's toy graveyard....its impressive. |
i dont have a toy killer on my hands but a toy hoarder. When i clean out the crate and put all the toys away they all go missing usually in about 3 days except the heavier ones. She hides them all in her strawberry house. Especially her pink bear. That thing always goes missing. |
My yorkie and poodle have never gone through a toy. They have 3 toy boxes throughout the house. Now, my pit chews them apart as soon as he gets them. When he comes inside I have to pick up all toys and hide them in closets. |
Coco's a toy killer. I watched her shred a new rope toy in two minutes. Even the folks at Petsmart were impressed when I brought the remains back within the hour! I don't buy those anymore. Stuffed toys have a 50/50 chance. There are many lost souls awaiting needle and thread in the "pet cemetery." :p |
Callie has never "killed" a toy we rotate and one that are not her favorite I send over to my moms house where her yorkie and beagle "kill" them lol and they go through at least two a day probably. My moms beagle does it like a science its kinda freaky she will work the squeaker to the seam of the toy them work the seam until its comes undone pulls the squeaker out and kills it and shes done. The yorkie Sammy likes to open it up any where and pull out all the stuffing everywhere and put the squeakers in his food dish. |
Huey kills toys at a variable rate. He goes through a plush squeakie toy every 2 or 3 months. I have found the only indestructible toy is the Hartz dura play. He has 3 of the bones and a ball, all of which still squeak and are intact after years of play. (Do not get the dura play zoo balloon toys-he chewed the stem of the "balloon" off within the 1st 30 min). I have not bought any of the kong toys, because if it is hard and doesn't squeak, he is absolutely not interested. He loves to run throught the house squeeking his toys. |
My Muggles will kill one in about a week. Especially if it has stuffing in it, loves to put that all over the house. The only ones that have lasted for a few months now are his puppy kong and his kong wubba - he is 4 months old. :animal-pa |
Mia is very kind to the toys...on the rare occasion she gets to play with them. ;) I am not aware of a single occasion where she has chewed up a toy. Brody is very...verrrrrryyyyy...toy centric but will murder the occasional toy trying to get to the squeaker, especially the toys that are not sewn all that well. However, Brody has never seen a toy he does not want (own?) even if it is still on the shelf at the store. ;):D He got a huge stuffed "jack" that was, in my opinion, too big for a Yorkie, 'cuz I picked it up to move it to look for Yorkie sized toys in TJ Max and he saw it in my hand and started barking in the store!!! So, into the cart went the jack, and he and Mia love it and play with it all the time. It is a great tug toy, actually. In fact, it accidentally fell out of the 'clean toys' bag while he was choosing some 'love seat' toys (toy box # 1). The jack is a 'bed' toy (toy box # 2), and Brody is a 'neat freak' with his toys, so after a few minutes, he picked it up in his teeth and Yorkshire Terrier Retriever'd it into our bedroom and placed it on our bed then returned to the love seat to play with the newly cleaned toy treasures that 'belong' on the love seat. :p:D |
Ziva and Abby pick the "toy of the week" and take turns mutilating it until its done! Last week, out of the blue, they did two new nylabones in, guess I won't buy them for a while. We use mostly infant toys from yardsales (very sturdy, and they love the crinkle ones) and fleece strip toys made from old blankets. |
oscar loves toys. the problem is as soon as he gets his little teeth into it he goes into "kill" mode... the object is to get the squeaker at any cost :D now i only buy him nylabones or hard rubber toys such as kong toys.. |
Galen already ripped the leg of bright orange octopus rope toy from Jax & Bone. It lasted 2-3 days . . . those little needle teeth lol |
P-Nut can destroy any stuffed toys -- and most others -- in nano seconds. I remember when he got several stuffed toys as presents from his auntie - they were history within a few minutes: heads torn off, ears demolished.... It took a lot of trial, error and $$, but we now have toys he can't destroy in the first sitting - mostly Kong (the durable cloth Wubba - it takes a while for those to be destroyed - and their rubber balls). He also gets something called the "jaw gym" which is a very durable rubber bone - it's bouncy, so he can throw it all over the place for himself and run after it. He's never put a dent in it. |
