More about Baxter Good morning all of you Yorkie lovers. For all of you that thinks there may be some Dachsund in his lineage, look at the pic I posted of Baxter with my daughters mini Dachsund. Interesting huh? When I looked at the picture I thought OMG Baxters a Dorkie! I will keep posting pics as he grows up so everyone can see how he turns out. I also have read that short haired puppies grow out a fine silky coat, but I don't think they mean this short! I might add that I don't know about DNA testing, how much it costs? If he his not truly purebred this breeder needs shut down! I went with a certain expectation of what I wanted. I was going to leave until lil ole Baxter crawled into my lap & heart. His sisters were just gorgeous, I almost got one of them. Sorry for all the long posts. Wish me luck as I return to work tomorrow. Baxter cries & cries whenever I leave his sight. My daughter is going to come & get him when my granddaughter wakes up. Take a look at this picture of Baxter with Daisy my daughters Dachsund & tell me what you think! Thank you from Baxter the short haired Yorkies Mom! |
Sorry I was not able to see your pictures. I just wanted to tell you that it sounds like Mr. Baxter makes you very happy. Shame of the breeder for telling you he was a purebred if you hav suspicions he is not. Baxter sounds like a special little guy and I am glad he has found a good home with you. |
1 Attachment(s) The picture didn't upload, I'll try it now! |
Baxter is cute as can be. In this picture he does look like a mix. Yo can order DNA kits on line, but I would check with your vet first. I don't know how good the ones on line would be. |
Baxter is adorable, I can tell you he is 100% cute. You know if Baxter makes you happy and you have no intentions of "going after" the breeder I am not sure I would go ahead with DNA. What really matters he is healthy, you are happy and you both have a lot of love and fun. |
Awww..I think he´s adorable! and yes,he does look alot like a Dachsund ;) In your last post I told you about Jess,my previous "yorkie" whom I had for years knowing that something was just off...she had part Dachsund (long haired) in her lineage too. Some of the breeders pups were yorkies, and some looked like my Jess. Her parents were on sight and looked just fine,so I didnt suspect a thing. But once she started to grow the differences became more obvious. As for the silky coats being shorter, they arent THAT sort.I´ve had 5 yorkies and 2 had silky coats, but they still grew out.Slower, but it was still long.It was just brittle (easily broken). Maybe you could start the ball rolling by going to your vet and asking him what he thinks.Depending on what he says, confront the breeder about it.Does she know that a female can have pups from different males in the same litter? Are there any other dogs in her house? How does she react when you tell her? etc. As much as you love your fur baby, she has no right to charge you or anyone else for pure bred pups when there is something else in the mix,and those pups should not have paperwork either ;) She is committing fraud. Shelters are full of mixed breeds, she has no buisness breeding mixes on purpose and selling them as purebred pups.I would at least let her know that I´m on to her. I´m not sure how it works where you are but that´s what we did. Finally,we were actually able to contact a few other buyers and we got together to make sure it didnt happen again. She had to have her dogs fixed, and guess where they ended up? On sale as MIXES on the internet for next to nothing! Yes,her very own "yorkshire terrier" breeding stock! |
Well he is just HIM. :) With that said, I do see the longer length of the nose and the hair is not yorkie (IMO). I think he does have some doxie in him. Not sure if they still do or not, but PetSmart used to sell the DNA kits..they were like $100 or so. My boy, Shelby-Dale, was sold to us as a bi-black sheltie. He obviously has something else in him. Many believe border collie..I lean towards lab. I've threatened to do the DNA testing just out of curiousity. I haven't yet. Bottom line is..he's MY baby boy and it really doesn't matter. Must admit..I am very curious tho..so I may still one day. Just not $100 worth of curious I guess hehe |
