Collar vs. harnes? What do you guys use? We have a collar that we use, but I'm afraid that is what making my puppy cough/gag at nights :-( Should I use a harnes instead? |
Yes please use a harness. :animal36 |
I use a harness made by Puppia. It seems to work. My Spud still gets that esophageal cough every so often but the harness doesn't pull on his neck as much Harness is better than collar. Collar really chokes them up. |
Yes you should use a harness. There are many great choke free harnesses available. |
Harness only here. |
We started right off the bat with a harness for our Lambeau....he is now 13 weeks old and wears his harness almost 24/7....for those quick 'outside---peeps' moments. He tolerates it very well and we don't have to worry about his little neck. We also have a padded harness that we use on occasion, but seems a little cumbersome to leave on 'round the clock. I'd look into a harness for your little one. |

Definately use a harness. |
3 Attachment(s) Lil Sis on here sells the choke free harnesses. Maximo sells Buddy Belts. Either one you can't go wrong with. Here are some pictures of what Lil Sis sells. Attachment 381496. Attachment 381497. Attachment 381498 |
Will use a harness as soon as Sophie can't wiggle out of one. LOL |

I would strongly urge getting in touch with either LilSis or Maximo and talk to them about getting her a harness...yes, she will grow out of it, but her neck and throat are too tiny and fragile to be wearing a collar... |
Most definitely use a harness for walking. Collars are great for ID tags, rabies tag, and licenses, but I would never use collars for walking a yorkshire terrier or other small dogs with delicate trachea's. |
We use only step in harnesses on the girls because they don't touch the throat at all. They fit way down on the breast bone instead. I put their ID tags on a claw clip and attach to the D ring on the harness, and it's easy to take off and put on when I change harnesses. I don't put collars on them at any time. |
Please use a Harness!!! Welcome to Yorkie Talk and thank you for asking this good question. |
harness only here, plus if you have to lift them in a hurry from something, that is good as well |
