Yorkie won't drink water Hi....new here, and wondering if anyone has ever come across this problem. Our Shelby will not drink water....from her bowls, or any other container. She did suck water from a wet washcloth once. We get water into her by adding it to her can food. She is fed 1 tablespoon of food 3 times a day so we can do the water thing. She is a puppymill rescue, and seems to fear water. She is scared to death of hoses for sure. We have had her 10 months now and I am still trying to find something that she will actually drink from. The vet says she is not dehydrated, so we must be doing something right for her. I worry about her not getting enough fluids. Our second rescue, Lil doesn't have this problem. really could use some help with this problem. Thank you. |
Did you try a water bottle like they use in cages for guinea pigs and some shelters use them. Have you tried ice cubes? I can't think of anything else. Poor baby must have had a rough life. I am glad she is safe with you. |
I would try the water bottle that you hang on a crate. If she was from puppy mill this is probably how she got her water! We had foster dogs that had a crate with a water bottle. Our Teeka loved to go in it and drink from that bottle! I would give it a try! :) |
Try adding a tiny bit of chicken broth to her water |

Chicken broth without salt or sodium lol... I can't remember which one. The water bottle is a good idea as well as the ice. A lot of people so the water in can food when dogs have Urine problems. |
