Vet Chiropractor Thank you for the warm welcome to this site! i was wondering if anyone has used a Vet trained Chiropractor for their Yorkie? My Yorkie, Chloe has anxiety and aggression issues, she's on meds, we've tried obedience training, thunder shirt, going to all natural food...etc. I have to wonder if she is in some kind of pain. When i was at the chiropractor, I overheard someone talking about taking their dog and how much it had helped. i'm thinking it may be worth an evaluation. Any thoughts? thanks! |
Sorry no. Maybe someone else. . . |
Hi and Welcome to YT! Has your vet ruled out any medical issues that could be a cause? If yes, then a chiro might be helpful. How old is your pup? |
Yes, I have used one for Moo and I do feel it helped. I don't know if it will help for the issue you have with your dog but it might not hurt to get an evaluation done and have a couple of treatments to see if you notice a change. I know when Moo needs to go in...she arches her back, drags her tail and walks with her head down...after a treatment her back is noticably more level, her tail is up and so is her head. If you think the behavior may be caused by pain then I would have a hands on exam done and possibly x-rays too, just to rule out injuries or issues of that nature. A chiropractic visit for a dog isn't the same as one for a human so they aren't laying face down while they get adjusted. |
I would check with your regular vet to see if she is in pain. |
Welcome! I used to work for a vet that had a chiropractor and did acupunture. Chibi has had both and I tell you it worked wonders. Before I knew about his super sensitive stomach we were tryign to figure out why he was in pain so much, some days he would be so sick and they would do acupunture on him and he would feel better almost instantly. I would also recommend natual remidies, a holisitic vet can help rebalance her system if that is why she is having issues. Good luck. |
We have an appointment Wed. evening. :) |
Vet chiropractor/prayers for Chloe I'm not sure what the cause is for Chloe's behavior, she has an appointment with the vet tomorrow evening, so we'll see what the doc has to say, I want her to check her out very good to make sure she's not in any kind of pain. I'm very concerned that Chloe may have come from a puppy mill. I had never heard tell of such a thing, but now that I've done some research, it makes sense. She was very tiny when I got her an the vet had even commented on how scary it was that she had had so many shots with in such a short period of time and so young. I'm just heart broke, don't know what else to do for my girl and even if I tried to find her a home, who is going to want an aggressive dog? We've tried everything from a thunder shirt to switching food to all natural to weeks upon weeks of training with a professional, she's even on Prozac for her anxiety. She is sweet as pie one minute and the next is baring her teeth. She is very possessive over toys, bones and god forbid she gets something she should not have, you WILL get bit if you plan to get it away from her. The constant barking and aggressiveness is just getting to be too much, she's also aggressive towards our other dog (mini schnauzer). I've cried so many tears for my little Chloe, I love her so much. I just keep praying God will intervene. I just feel sick to my stomach, this appointment Wed night could be a very tough one. thank you all for your support, say a prayer for Chloe and myself, that God will lead me to do the right thing, whatever that may be. |
prayers to you and chloe. |
Chloe's doctor appt. I didn't feel as if I got much info at the doctors office as far as help with Chloe's issues. She gave me a couple things to try...like using the "gentle" leader harness" to try and curb some of her aggressiveness, so I'd have greater control over her. Also told me to take away any toys, etc. that she is aggressive with and make her "work" for everything she gets. Really, I don't feel like we are any better or any worse than before I took her in. She is on all natural food, treats & bones. The doc didn't think she was in any kind of pain or that her anxiety and aggression had anything to do with pain..at least not in her case. No harm in going for a chiropractic evaluation though. It's just so hard, it's not like I have nothing else going on... She felt as if maybe taking Chloe to a behavioral therapist may help, but the closest is 2 hrs away...just seems a little extreme to me. I just don't know what to do. thank you for the support and prayers, I do appreciate it very much. |
A veterinary behaviorists would be a good step. I would need put money into chiropractic care or let anyone use those methods on my dogges (jmo). |
