Is Bil-Jac Good Food?
 

I thought I had heard a breeder here say that Bil_Jac was very good food. I think its was Yorkie Passion. Can any one tell me if it is good I went Out today to buy some and am doing the switch from Science Diet. I hope I boguth the right thing. :thumbup:

well Science Diet is BAD. lol But I've heard Bill-Jac is good. Granted, I swear by Solid Gold and won't feed my babies anything else.

Bil Jac has BHA or BHT in it, which is an artificial preservative that I've read can cause cancer. Honestly without seeing the ingredients I can't tell you much more. IMO it's not a good food but others on here will tell you differently. Just read the label.

So yeah, there's by-products and not only that it's the main protein source. Also, why would it need salt? Beet pulp is just sugar. And corn is not good either. :thumbdown

Bil Jac is high in sugar :eek: and once you start it with your dog you will have a tough time changing him over to anything else. I know some members are using the Bil Jack raw frozen but not the dry that I know of. Some of the dry high end are: Candia, Innova, Chicken Soup and Natural Balance to name a few . You might want to do a search on food but I know there was a poll running just yesterday on what people feed their dog.

also if it helps, at the boutique I work at we only sell organic, all natural foods meaning no by-products or any of that crap in typical food. The brands we sell are Solid Gold, California Natural, Innova, Chick Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, and Merrick

I use to feed Science Diet and then learned on here it was not good for them, so then switched to Bil-Jac. Then the dogs started to itch some. So I did some more investigating and Bil-Jac has meat by products in it. A corgi breeder told me about Bil-Jac. I found out that Holistic - natural dog food is best, because beef, corn and wheat can cause allergies in dogs. So I switched to Nature's Recipe and my dogs love it. The can food even has chunks of carots and peas in it and you can see them. When I was searching, I took my list of Holistic dog foods to the pet store and out of everything on the list - Nature's Recipe was the only one they carried. My dogs are not itching at all now and their coats even look better.
P.S. I did try Royal Canin 28 for a week and my dogs all got sick - diaherria and stomachs made a lot of noise. I switched very slowly too. That's when I went back to Science Diet and then later switched to Bil-Jac. I love Nature's Recipe now. It worked the best for me.
