My yorkie's hair appears thin and not growing fast? 2 Attachment(s) I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble with their yorkies hair. Juju's hair just seems thin and the texture is sooo fine. She's 8 months old. Any advice would be very much appreciated. |
I'm sorry your post got lost on page 2. This section moves so darn fast. JuJu's hair is so pretty and shiny. I believe it's okay for her hair to be thin at her age. Mandie's is pretty thin at 9 months. I've read that if they have thin hair as a puppy, it will start filling out to a full coat by 18 months to 2 years of age. Hopefully someone who has experience with this will chime in... |
I think all of us kind of went thru this stage with our yorkies. As puppies, the color of their roots go thru changes, and it looks like thinning...even though it almost never is. Also, the texture of the puppy fur changes, which can look funny at first. Actually, your kiddo's coat looks gorgeous in the pics - SO shiny!! Btw, WELCOME to YT :)! |
JuJu's (cute name!) hair & color...gorgeous! True silky hair is very slow growing & thick soft cottony hair grows very fast. I have both & Momo is my puff ball, his hair sticks/grows out, never lays flat, no shine. The rest have normal hair loll. |
Juju's hair looks shiny & in good condition. It's all down to genetics. I don't know how breeders can tell looking at a puppy what the hair will turn out like. ZoE's breeder knew she would have silky hair not cottony, and she does.....but it's also very fine & breaks easily, and is incredibly slow growing. But, it is easy to take care of and rarely matts...guess you can't have it all :p |
