Taking my babies to be groomed... Well today is grooming day. They will both go together. This is my new yorkie"s (of 1 and a half months and 1 years of age) first trip to my groomer. He'd been groomed before but not by my groomer. I hope she knows how to cut a yorkie... I'm also worried about him cus he's so small and delicate. He's also horrid with other dogs so I spoke with my groomer and told her to keep my two together and away from other dogs...even tho my female is a social ROCKSTAR. His hair is currently 2 inches long. I'm grooming him to a one inch...? Not sure what the length should be. Any suggestions? Am I clipping him too soon...should his grow out be longer? I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING... |
If you keep clothing on him it should not matter too much if you cut him shorter. It may be more comfortable for him. I know it's cold where you are. Our floors get kind of cool in the winter so I keep Gracie's pajamas or a sweater on her most of the time. You might want to remind your groomer how sensitive a Yorkie's throat area can be. If he pulls on a groomers noose it could hurt his trachea. Hope all goes well during their "spa" experience! |
Well Boo came out of the groomers looking much like a square faced westie lol!!! I had them round it out a bit before I left...His mustache is a bit too short too. In fact when I was at the groomers picking him up all I knew for sure was that I didn't like the shape of his face. I had them round it out only because I didn't want to leave with a dog that I didn't recognize, but truthfully I had NO IDEA really what to tell them to help fix it. I will from now on have a picture IN MY HAND and show them the look of puppy cut I would like for them to do. I have zero experience in the look of a yorkie and I can't rely on my instructions when I arrive at the groomers. So, a pictures says a THOUSAND WORDS and this will be my resolve for the next times I bring my little baby boy. Poor thing looks strange... Wish they made doggy hats till his hair grew out lol :D I'm not gonna be mad about it...I feel I learned something out of it, tho poor Boo had to pay the price (luckily he can't see himself in a mirror...haha!). |
Oh, that's too bad. It's kind of like taking home a different dog isn't it? I hope taking a picture helps. It seems every groomer has their own idea of what a Yorkie cut should be. There have been people here who even took pictures with them and still had terrible results so have a good talk with your groomer before you leave him again. I hope little Boo's hair grows out at a good pace so you recognize him again!:) |
