Please STOP licking! So Zero had gotten fixed Monday and I've been TRYING to keep her at minimum exercise but she is bouncing around like someone gave her puppy drugs!! Also she just started licking the stitches a few hours ago and she's determined to lick them no matter what. I don't have a cone because the vet didn't give us one and Silver never licked when she was spayed so any advice on how to knock her out and stop her from licking is welcome  |
Depending on her size, baby onesies work great! Our little girl was too small for these but we had custom soft cones made prior... I hope someone has a homemade Fix for ya!! |
She just hit 4lbs and every onesie I find is wayyyyy to big. Right now she has her pj's on with a pair of Silvers on too because they are big on her so it covers a little bit better but she still keeps trying to get to it. She's just so stubborn lol |
Go to Walmart and get a package of baby onesies. You will have to unsnap them for her to go potty, but she wont be able to get to the stitches as easially. |
What about a long sock? Since the onsies are too big, maybe an adult size sock could serve the save purpose???? Might look weird, but might actually work! Lol |
Kendra you are a genius! I didn't even think about that...I will be going on a mission now to find a sock. Thank you so much! |
You can buy a cone at the petstore. |

I have premie onecies for my 3.6 lb, that fit her perfectly! |
I'd take her to the pet store and buy an e-collar. Its always a good idea to have one in the house for just in case things anyways. |

If you can get to a pet store, try a Boo-Booloon. It is like a small inner tube that goes around the neck, but doesn't interfere with vision, or eating. I had to use one on one of my boys when his allergies were so bad that he chewed the hair off one of his sides. |
I actually like that sock idea. I was going to suggest a premie size onsie like Deb did. I don't like the idea of a cone of any type if it can be helped. One reason I like my vet office because they agree with this. I know some situations call for it no matter what, but they really are bothersome to the animal. I had to put a cone on Shelby when he got fixed and he would just stand there with his head hanging down, walk into walls, and just could NOT get to his food bowl properly. |
You could make a temporary cone from a cereal box and tape, just until you can get to the store. |
We ended up doing what Kendra suggested and put a sock on her with one of her t-shirts and she hasn't messed with it since. When we had Silver done she was fat enough to fit into the onesies but all we really have with baby stuff is Walmart and I had checked for premie ones before when Silver was fixed but they didn't have any. But Silver only tried to lick the first day and we put a onesie on her and she was over it. But Zero seems good now and she's not licking. But she is still extremely hyper and wanting to play. |
