Newbie Hi everybody,Paul all the way from Scotland :)just got my new wee baby boy Pepsi he is 10 weeks old and quite a handfull doing great on his pee pads, chewing everything including fingers and toes:)any advice would be very gratefull he seems to like to bark back at me when he's told NO |
Welcome Paul & Pepsi! Sounds like he's got a lot of spirit. :) Just be consistent with your discipline and use a lot of positive reinforcement. If he's biting or chewing on something he shouldn't, tell him no and then offer him a toy that's ok to chew on and praise him when he does. By the way, love his name! |

He's going to be biting a lot right now and for the next few months because he's teething. Just get him some toys or something that are ok for him to chew on and praise him when he does...sternly tell him "No bite" when he bites what he shouldn't. Stick an "okay to bite" toy in his mouth after telling him no and repeat with the praise for biting on the right thing. It's gonna be trying but be consistent and patient. About the barking back...welcome to owning a Yorkshire Terrier. hehe |
Hi and welcome to YT! =) |
Welcome, Paul! Congratulations on your boy Pepsi. Those little teeth are something, aren't they? I don't have much advice as I'm dealing with the same thing. Right now, the "sassing" is really cute, but I don't know that it's something to encourage. |

Brilliant that he's doing well on his pee-pads - as for the chewing...well, it will calm down once the teething's over :) In the meantime, offer nylabones or Bullysticks (odour-free, from Amazon) instead of your poor appendages! :D Good luck! Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
Welcome!!! I'm a newbie too, from Texas. Love your lil baby's name. I'm also have problems with biting and chewing. I bought a puppy teething ring for Harley. Good Luck |
Thanks eveybody:)will defo try puppy teething ring, does anybody find the amount of food I should be giving a bit confusing,or is it just me:rolleyes:he's currently on royal canine food |

Sorry, can't really help with the feeding as I home cook for Harry - but we do keep Royal Canin down as his 'snack of choice' (it's the only one he'll touch). As Pepsi's only 10 weeks old, and of course if you want to....I wouldn't worry too much yet about quantities, he's still a tiny baby and will self-regulate. As long as he's enjoying his food and thriving, I'd just keep feeding him! Hope you're enjoying him! :) Sally + Harry x |
Welcome and congratulations on your new baby. Puppies love to chew! Never allow him to chew your hands or any other part of you. Tell him no and replace your hand with a chew toy. Be consistent and he will eventually learn what to chew. |
Welcome |
Hey Paul, I give Harley a cup of food throughout the day, hes on Science Diet. The bag says for his age 1/2 cup but, seems like we eat a little more. he's 11 weeks. |
Welcome Paul. You may want to consider trying an antler as a way of teething for the little tyke. Our bailey loves them and it helped save the remaining chairs and tables. |
Welcome, Paul! Can't wait to see photos of your little Pepsi. My little Cooper is 12 weeks old today (just brought him home on Saturday) so I have the same problems that you do. When Cooper tries to bite, I say no and offer a teething Nylabone and he loves it. Good luck and enjoy your little bundle of joy! |
Welcome Paul -all the way from Scotland - and little Pepsi! I just wanted to say it seems like the others have given you some great advice. I can't help with the food amounts as I free feed my two (they always have food down and eat when they are hungry) and always have fresh water. As far as chewing, bully sticks saved us! They work great and the pups love them!!! Good luck and hoping you can post some pictures of little Pepsi. |
