Welcome to Yorkie Talk!:wavey: |
Hello and welcome to YT. We have a library filled with great advice. If you have a question start a new thread. We have a wonderful group of knowledgeable people |
Hi and welcome! =) As Verbena said, there are LOTS of threads here, some sticky, some not, that cover pretty much anything you can think of but if you can't find what you are looking for feel free to start a new thread for your questions. =) |
Yay, more Texas yorkie people! We are a great group. My main advise for little ones is make sure you've checked under your couch and other places for things they can get into, when Molli was that small I didnt realize she could squeeze in those places and ended having to take pens/bottle caps and other random things out of her mouth  Welcome and hope we can see pics soon! |
Thanks for all the "Welcomes" I did post some pics of Harley. I need to explore and learn more on how to post pics on here:) |
Welcome to YT to you and Harley. I love his name! Others have already given great advice so I won't duplicate. Look around and join the fun!! |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! Yorkies should stay with there moms until 12 weeks and there moms will teach them bite inhibition and you are probably going to have to teach that to your new pup. Make sure you watch your pup for hypoglycemia and make sure you have nutrical in case your pup does have a hypoglycemic episode. Also make sure you get your pup checked out by your vet within 48 hours or so of getting them. |
A BIG Texas hello!! I will look for your other thread too. An expen is a life saver or a Pack n Play (baby portable crib/playpen). That way the little tyke has a place to be when you cannt follow him around. |
Welcome to YT! I'm gonna stop by your page to look at some pics after I post this, but to post a pic in a post, just hit the "Post Reply" or "Go Advanced" buttons..that will bring up a text box with options. On that screen, there is a paper clip icon..click that and you can upload your pics. There are so many people here that can answer any questions you have so ask them all. There are plenty of threads to search for certain topics, too. Taylor mentioned bite inhibition and Nutrical up above..those are great tips there. A good way to work with the biting issue right now, is say a stern "no bite" when being bit and then put an acceptable toy or something in the pup's mouth. Then, say "good bite." Just be consistent and leave plenty of things that are acceptable to chew around him because he will be teething for the next few months. :) |
Thank you guys, I think I will try a puppy teethin ring. I do have the nutrical in case of a hypoglycemic episode. Hopefully we will not experience that anytime soon! That seems scarey. He does shake sometimes. Is this normal? |
Hi! I'm new here too and also from Texas. Welcome. I have learned a lot from these wonderful ladies as well. My Chloe shook a bit at first too and then she was fine was she adjusted. It wasn't constant, just sometimes. |
They can shake for various reasons. Cold, scared, pain,...I suppose you just have to assess the situation and try to figure it out. Remember...they are very good at hiding pain so if you ever rule out the obvious cold thing or scared thing...check to see if there is something causing pain. I'm guessing it's just natural cold/scared due to the age. Do you have clothes on him? |
I have a sweater for him and he absouletly HATES it! We are trying to potty train and he is using his potty pads 25% of the time. I try and bring him outside as much as I can and he is doing good.I praise him and give him treats. He does NOT potty in his crate or where he sleeps. For the last 2 nights He has woke me up and the underneath of him is soaked!!! I think he's tee teed himself, Im afraid something is wrong. |
Again, Thank you for all the advice... this is my first puppy to have, and it's been a joy! And a handful...Such a great place to come for questions and answers... I LOVE IT! |
