Oh my god...... I can't believe what i have just done :( :( Smudger has only had his first injection (he gets his 2nd tomorrow) at first he was really scared when I opened the front door and would look out but not even put a paw outside. Before I was taking the rubbish out (our wheelie bin is just outside the front door, so close you can reach to out rubbish in it. about 15 minutes later my boyfriend asked where Smudger was and we couldn't find him. I suddenly panicked thinking oh my god what if he went outside. I opened the front door and he was sat there crying :( :( I can't believe I locked my baby outside in the cold, he could have been stolen, or ran over :(  I feel terrible :( |
OMG! You are SO lucky that he didn't run off! Poor thing will be okay. |
You didn't mean to!! Don't be too hard on yourself, you're a good mom!! At least he knew to sit by the door and wait for you! It's all good now so dont' be too upset! I locked Pita AND my keys in my car not to long ago and had to wait for my daughter to bring the spare set. I know how you feel! :D :D |
It happens, don't be too hard on yourself.. those little buggers are QUICK! Glad nothing bad happened.. and all is well. |
I didn't get to finish what I was typing...boss came in! Things like that happen...Chester use to run off all the time. Count your blessings that angels were watching over your little one. Give him big kisses and hugs. |
It's ok!! sometimes we get so busy that the important things slip.. None of us are perfect. You have a very loyal dog, because he just stayed there waiting, he knew you would come back for him.. Life is a learning experience. All you can do is learn from it. You are definetly a good mom, if you did not care this much then you would have not gotten upset at all. :) :aimeeyork |
Now that's what I call an early Christmas present :) . It was by accident and you know it will never happen again. Thankfully he is fine and you will have a wonderful Christmas now. |

 If that would have been Gidget, she would have been long gone! When she gets out we have to take after her! Only happened a few times but it has scared the life out of me! Thank goodness your baby is safe and didn't get hurt!!! |
It turned out ok. Take a deep breath and know that it scared you so much that it won't ever happen again. Next time, you'll remember to watch out for him. :) |
I have done the same thing. Until recently, I had two dogs and two cats and a lot of company. Several times, one of my dogs or cats has been left in the basement (it's finished and people have been down there) -- and I haven't notice them gone until the next day...especially the cats, which are outside a lot. And with a cat going out - a dog coming in - another cat going out - another dog coming in (constantly) it can get confusing and I have several times left one of my dogs out longer than I meant to. My new little Yorkie is my first dog that can't go outside without me. And, I suspect he is always going to have to be on a leash. I have a safe back yard, but it is not fenced. One side, is the state park and another side goes into a pasture (where my other dogs love to play). But the Yorkie can't be let go like my other dogs can. And, boy, I have already learned that he can run three times as fast as I can - and get through places that my size just won't fit through. (and - I am also afraid of the hawks in this area.) Anyway - I am sure all of our pets have accidently been left on the other side of a door occasionally. But - now with a Yorkie - I really have to be careful and know where he is every minute. Good luck - Carol Jean |
I don't worry, things like that happen on accident. I accidentally locked Rocky in the closet and it was a good 45 minutes before I found him. I thought he ran out behind BF when he went for a smoke, so I looked outside first. Then remembered that I was putting up clothes and Rock is always following me room to room. When I went the bedroom closet all you could see was his little paws sticking out. I guess he was trying to signal for help. I which sometimes he would bark or cry, but no he just set quietly waiting on me. |
Oh no! That must have been so scary! At least Smudger didn't take off running (like my Miko does), and he waited for you to come back to the door :) |
