Biting question I have 3 furbabies, ages are 12, 6 and 15 months. The 15 month old constantly bites the 6 year old whenever I put them out in the backyard. Any thoughts? |
What part of the 6 year old's body is the 15 month old biting? And does this ONLY happen outside? Like, not when they play inside? |
It is usually when I am taking them outside. He bites him on the neck or face and it is pretty scary. I am surprised as this has never happened to me before. |
Has this always happened or is it just recent? Are they both fixed? I'm trying to think what would cause this only when going outside. I'm thinking maybe there is a smell of another dog out there that's freaking out the 15 month old or the 6 year old's excitement level changes on going outside, which triggers something in the 15 month old..? Hopefully others will have some ideas here.. |
I believe it's a dominance issue, and you're really going to have to get "rough" with him, before you can even make a dent in it. You may not be able to make him quit at all. |
It has been very difficult because my other 2 furbabies are just so kind and sweet and Jake has been biting them. They are both getting scared. All 3 dogs are boys and all are neutered. Jakes usually bites them on their ears. Any thoughts?? |
Your younger one is old enough to be taught not to do that. You may have to stand out there and teach the youngster what you are telling him no about but after he learns you should be able to say "no" and have him listen. |
